A great place to stay.

The hotel from the beginning to the end was a beautiful experience. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was nice and clean, and looked very modern. The reception staff allowed us to check out later than we needed, thank you! The only one negative is that when you enter the room you can smell a bit of the drain but once we started using the water, the smell was gone. A very relaxed experience. Will definitely be back. Thank you.

Avoid if you can

I booked 4 hotel rooms for my family 1. Hotel is very dated and requires a complete revamp 2. Overpriced for what's on offer 3. Bathroom leaked very badly. Floors were covered in water requiring extra towels to blot water 4. Toilets did not flush properly 5. Fridge did not work. Called and complained twice. then technician said there was nothing he could do. 6. Housekeeping staff were excellent 7. Rooms were clean and bed was very comfortable 8. Online line prices did not match final price paid. This discrepancy still to be sorted. 9. Took over an hour to check-in as only 2 staff members were checking in guests at peak hour even though there were 5 available terminals. 10. Took 45 minutes to check out with a taxi waiting. Cost me extra 50 riyals to appease taxi driver. 11. I will avoid this hotel in future. 12. I am disappointed that Accor actually has a great reputation only to be marred by this facility.

Avoid, filthy and rundown.

Please think very carefully before staying here. The place is really poor and the rooms are filthy. Arrived safely at Al Anwar Movenpick around 6am. I had emailed them directly to let them know I would be arriving this early in the morning as I had booked my room from the night before and I wanted to make sure they held the reservation and the room would be ready. The check in gentleman was rude and abrasive. There are two towers, Madina Tower and Haram Tower. Madina Tower is old and decrepit. Haram tower is a touch better but still poor. I asked to be put in Haram tower and was duly refused and carted off to my room with quite a curt and rude ; thats your room - end of'. Anyway the room was atrocious, It was filthy, disgusting, broken and nothing cleaned apart from the bedsheets which were clean. Carpet was soiled, food stains on the walls, makeshift repairs everywhere which were poor and everything smacked of really horrible and disgusting feeling. Don't het me wrong if I had booked a 2 or 3 star property and paid £50, I would have thought it was OK but for having booked a 5 star property at around 4 time the price, I as anyone would rightly expected my money worth. In the end spent the whole morning dealing with various staff members until one kind lady at reception agreed with the horror of the room and moved us to the Haram tower and even though the rom was not much better it had a lighter feel, was a bit more spacious and we caved in as we were so exhausted. The whole point of having the room immediately was to rest and be ready for Zuhr prayers but this whole shenanigan pretty much spoilt our first day as we were operating in a bit of a zombie state. The location is amazing, the hotel needs a complete refit. Breakfast was OK. The usual fare. Cereals were basic corn flakes and something sweet. Some melon, some fruits, an omelette station and salads. Seen much better service and décor and not up to standard at all. But you will be fed and watered but don't expect it to be a nice experience. Upon my return I highlighted my concerns to ACCOR with whom I booked this and they have just completely washed their hands and refereed me back to the Movenpick who sent a standard letter and suggested I stay with them again! Depending on how much energy I have, I may pursue a claim for a refund of 1 night but it looks like the Accor customer services is pretty poor as well so please be aware you really don't have much comeback when you come back to UK unless you decide to instigate legal action- and that is often more hassle than its worth. Just a quick update, Accor customer service basically not interested and don't really care. So my advice is avoid and spend your hard earned money elsewhere.
