We stayed form 25th-30th April 2025 We had an awful experience. The hotel cancelled our room key card three times saying we had not paid. Our agent contacted them and then they would reinstate the card. The staff were very rude especially Ryan. When we expressed our disappointment and said we wish to complain we were told to do what we want! Shocking attitudes and behaviour of reception staff. When we were going to checkout they disabled the room safe which had our travel documents ie passports etc... Our driver was waiting outside the hotel to take us to madina airport and Ryan told us they had only one maintenance staff who could open the safe. We waited over one hour for maintenance to arrive, open safe and release our travel document. We were in total panic, extremely distressed and they could not careless. Overall the hotel was nothing special. Breakfast was nice. Staff need to be trained to deal with customers politely and not turn their faces or fob them off. I will never use Al Anwar Movenpick again and don’t recommend it either.
Certainty it wasn't 5Star hotel. Bedding was not clean, bathroom was tiny. No coffee machine. TV was not working, despite complaints no one showed up. Toiletries was incomplete. Side table of bed was missing. Only good thing was, their breakfast and very near to Haram.
5 star!!! WHAT A JOKE. Who has graded this hotel 5 star, the accreditation body should be questioned as this rating is grossly misleading! The initial room alloted to us was a tiny room with 4 beds literally shoved into the room with minimal space for bags and movement, wet carpets and a DISGUSTING kitchen with tape on a very filthy fridge coupled with mould. The bedding was dirty, with stains on the duvet covers. After numerous visits to the Duty Manager we were were shown other rooms these too were all disgusting!! R9k later we upgraded to a room in the Haram Tower B....still what a disappointment. Here the shower does not work well, a disgusting kitchen that we refuse to step into!!! Housekeeping is EXCEPTIONALLY sloppy. Our room has not been vaccumed even once in the 5 days that we are here. There is a horrible smell that lingers in the corridors and bathrooms. I now sit in this beautiful land of Madina with a family who are all really sick, confined to this filthy room. We had a doctor come see us yesterday that cost us R12k. I wouldn't be surprised if us being so sick is attributable to this disgusting room that we are staying in. The duty manger was uninterested, I almost felt like I was begging for a service that I paid for, being asked to come through timeously. The only helpful person at the reception desk was a young man called Reyhaan. Our stay in Makkah was amazing, we stayed at Hyatt Regency, and that is definitely 5 star. My 9 year old asked me this morning...mum when we come for Umrah, do we have to stay in Madinah....this is when my heart broke into a million pieces......we bring our children to this beautiful land to strengthen their love for our honorable Prophet, and bad experiences lead them to ask questions like this!!!! Management of Movenpick your poor service does not just leave unhappy guests, it scars people and more importantly our children!!! We spend lots of money to stay "5 star"!!!! Yes location is great, question is...with the low standards in hygiene are you going to be able to even go to the musjid or are you going to be confined to your room. MOVENPICK IS NOT 5 STAR IN MY OPINION!
Here currently with family and we have 5 rooms. Every single room has something wrong with it. Hotel looks like it hasn’t been maintained since it was built. Hotel staff are extremely rude, especially duty manager. Awful awful hotel. Don’t waste your money. Not met a single person so far in the hotel that isn’t complaining
April 14 to 18th, room 10003 My stay is perfect from check in till check out, and the room was upgraded;Special thanks to Mr Khalid ; duty manager during check in ,my room is a renovated one ,very clean & hygienic. Thanks to all housekeepers on floor 10; my room always very clean & all stuff needed were provided. The executive lounge is very big with nice varieties of complimentary food, snacks, and drinks; special thanks to Mr Osman for his wonderful service during my visits to the lounge. There is a small prayer hall facing Almasjid Alnabawi; you can join prayers with Almasjid Alnabawi if you run out of time to reach the mosque. My thanks to Ms Mareyah duty manager during my check out and to Mr Jasim from bell hope desk and to all in the hotel for their attention, follow-up & polite attitudes
