Missold, definitely not 5*
Here currently with family and we have 5 rooms. Every single room has something wrong with it. Hotel looks like it hasn’t been maintained since it was built. Hotel staff are extremely rude, especially duty manager. Awful awful hotel. Don’t waste your money. Not met a single person so far in the hotel that isn’t complaining

April 14 to 18th, room 10003 My stay is perfect from check in till check out, and the room was upgraded;Special thanks to Mr Khalid ; duty manager during check in ,my room is a renovated one ,very clean & hygienic. Thanks to all housekeepers on floor 10; my room always very clean & all stuff needed were provided. The executive lounge is very big with nice varieties of complimentary food, snacks, and drinks; special thanks to Mr Osman for his wonderful service during my visits to the lounge. There is a small prayer hall facing Almasjid Alnabawi; you can join prayers with Almasjid Alnabawi if you run out of time to reach the mosque. My thanks to Ms Mareyah duty manager during my check out and to Mr Jasim from bell hope desk and to all in the hotel for their attention, follow-up & polite attitudes

Needs a complete overhaul. The owner needs to make some investment
Prehistoric. Needs investment. And complete overhaul. Stayed here with my family. We had 10 rooms. We complained about all of them. They haven’t even got the basics right. Things are dirty, there was blood on my bed sheets. The towels are frayed and old. There is mould in the shower. It used to be decent 20 years ago. But no investment has been made. Even the renovated rooms are awful. The breakfast is poor. Food isn’t nice and service is useless and almost non existent. That’s if you can figure out which one of the 3 restaurants you are supposed to get breakfast from. They’re all poor. Speaks volumes when the management says they wouldn’t stay there themselves. Avoid. Go anywhere else. The only thing good is the location. For this price. Just go anywhere else.

1 Star - Extremely Disappointing for a "5-Star" Hotel I honestly can't believe this hotel is rated as 5 stars. As soon as we arrived at Anwar ul Madinah Mövenpick, another guest warned us about the disgusting smell in the rooms—he had already been moved to different rooms but experienced the same issue. Unfortunately, we had the exact same problem. When we entered our room, the stench was overwhelming. I contacted reception, and they sent someone who simply sprayed the room, which made things worse for me as I suffer from bronchiectasis and severe asthma. My chest became really bad. I called again, and another person came to pour soap down the drains, which also did nothing to resolve the issue. We're now stuck waiting again for someone else to come. To top it off, the room was not even cleaned properly—totally unacceptable after a 5-hour journey from Makkah, especially at 11pm. This is not the welcome you expect from any hotel, let alone a supposedly luxury one. Photos attached for proof. Avoid if you value your health and comfort.

Do not book
Absolutely awful would not recommend at all, the only good thing about this hotel is the location. We stayed here for 7 days, Housekeeping absolutely a joke had to tell them about 3, 4 times every day to clean the room even though we had the sign outside the door saying to clean the room, toilet seat broken on arrival none of the sockets worked, asked to change the room as the bathroom was tiny as we were a family of 4 were told that all the bathrooms are tiny and nothing they can do. Got a knock at our door at 11.45pm asking if we’re were checking out. Would not stay again at all and will definitely be telling family not to book. This was supposed to be a 5 star hotel I would say it’s a 3 at best, decor outdated, all rooms and bathrooms need major updating. Pictures are all fake because the rooms do not look like them at all.
