Location: Fine for those who do not plan to visit city center of Cairo. Food: (+) Breakfast is quite complete, missing just espresso/cappuccino and smoked salmon. Sushi restaurant is ok. (-) Buffet Dinner is overall good except for kofta and chicken which were dry every evening. There were weddings organized on three evenings in a row so the dinner buffet was moved to a smaller location where one could see stressed personnel (more work?), upset guests (waiting in line) and external guests running around in evening dresses. Not the ideal dinner location. We decided to cut short the last dinner and eat at extra charge in the sushi restaurant just to have some peace. Rooms: (++) big rooms with a lot of space. Facilities: (+) The grounds are quite big and it gives a breath of fresh air as well as some running ground for kids. (-) Kids' club was closed and swimming pool with slides was closed, under maintenance. Tennis court was also closed and in very bad shape. It clearly was not in use for quite some time as the branches from plants was closing its door ..... All these were advertised as available on the hotel website and nothing was mentioned during reservation process. On top of it, the lobby/main restaurant and some hotel clusters (blocks of rooms) were in renovation and very noisy. This was a big disappointment. So our plan to enjoy the facilities was simply a total failure. Personnel: (--) It is the first time I have had to move out of my way to let personnel pass in a hotel during breakfast, dinner and in the lobby. Personnel was more busy chatting between themselves during breakfast/dinner (always a group of three men and three women) instead of serving. Once there were a couple of employees laughing and hugging each other at the door between the breakfast buffet and the tables.... I could not pass for some time and they did not bother to move. Service was average - we would receive the bottle of water and then we would have to ask for glasses ... Personnel at reception were not very friendly. Especially one lady seemed not to enjoy answering questions and she gave wrong information every time (wrong hours for dinner; "kids club was exceptionally closed for the day" when it was simply closed and would not open soon). These are just a few examples but I can say, all in all, worse staff I have seen in Egypt (vs Sofitel and vs Hilton). Spa: (++) Massage was very good. (-) Steam room and sauna were not working.
The service here was impeccable. The food was incredible, highly recommend eating here. Ahmed was extremely helpful and a great host.
