Not well maintained 5 star hotel - electricity outages
Unacceptable electric outages in the middle of the night. Stay for 2 nights, from moment we checked in late evening room only had electricity in the hallway entrance and bathroom. Complained to receptionist and he said government electrical outage. Waited a while room completely dark. So we demanded to move to another room that had electricity. Second night electrical outage again more than an hour so complain again to the receptionist. Unacceptable for a 300+ USD a night. Don’t stay here truly not worth it. We were in the new wing that look old already, I suspect this hotel is not well maintained and in trouble. It has a very nice location, what a pity !

Absolutely Horrendous Experience
Absolutely Horrendous Experience My stay at Mövenpick Aswan was hands down one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. We paid $700 for two nights and were given a filthy room — dirty carpets, visible dust, and to top it off, NO RUNNING WATER. Yes, no water at all. Completely unacceptable for any hotel, let alone a property that claims to be luxury. When we complained, instead of resolving the issue professionally, we were told the only option was to move to the “new building” — but only if we paid an additional $200. Desperate at that point, we agreed. Guess what? The so-called upgrade came with a BROKEN SHOWER that was never fixed despite repeated complaints. To make matters worse, hotel management verbally promised a refund for one night due to the ordeal. That promise turned out to be completely empty. No refund was processed. No follow-up. No accountability.

Best hotel to stay at Aswan. Exemplary service.
Got an upgrade to a deluxe room in the newer side of the hotel, which is the nicest part so good start to our stay. Loved the location and views. Enjoyed getting the free ferry (3 mins to cross) to the main bank.Nice touches like cakes and chocolate on arrival, complimentary lemon juice at the pool. Fantastic service, especially at the pool. Great food too. We ate dinner at both Mezze and Panorama and can recommend both. If you have a sweet tooth the pastry display at breakfast is a sight to behold! Best hotel to stay in Aswan, unless you want to fork out 1000 USD pn - and we went there to the bar and the service was rubbish! Only minor critcisms; no bathrobes in room, shower needed replacing, gym equipment is old and in need of maintenance.

NOT a 5 star- beware of the OLD vs New buildings- OLD is NASTY!!! Weird "deer park" with poor captive deer :(
I cannot even believe this is listed as a 5 star! We had no idea that there were new and old buildings. We ended up in the old building which is dingy and decrepit. The carpets were filthy and fraying. The room was dark and lackluster. There was no gym at the old building at all, so you had to walk a long distance to the new building to use the gym. Even once we made it there, one of two treadmills was broken and it was very warm which made the workout less pleasant. The food at the breakfast buffet was not great (e.g., baked beans were hard) and it was difficult to get service. They have this weird "deer park" where poor deer are kept captive in a small enclosed area for unknown reasons- they should release them into the wild where they belong. Positives- the grounds were very pretty with nice views of the Nile- I think that's about the only positive I could come up with from my stay at this hotel. Summary: The old building is not suitable for a "5 star" property and is not good value- this should be torn down or fully renovated to be up to par. MAKE SURE WHICH BUILDING YOU ARE BOOKING!!! Important note: You have to take a boat to and from this property to get to the town since it's on an island so build in plenty of time for this!!!
