Recent Stay Movenpick Aswan Egypt

The Movenpick Aswan Egypt property was a great setting. I would have rated this advertised 5-Star Hotel as a 5, but we had air conditioning issues in our room every night that hotel management did not address. You are not allowed essentially to control your own temperature in the room, and I will explain how I determined this. We stayed 3 nights, and during the day and into the evening the air conditioning worked fine. But after raising an issue that after midnight the cool air essentially shutoff, and the temperature started to rise even though it was set lower. I informed the Guest Relations staff member Shahd, who I might had was wonderful in providing exceptional customer service, as she made us dining reservations, and arranged a transfer to the Airport, but the issue with how the hotel controls the air conditioning CENTRALLY and shuts it off to save money/energy at the customers expense is not something she could overcome on our behalf. This is a hotel management issue. They know what they are doing, and did not care to address it with me no matter me raising the issue. My wife has hot flashes at night, so the only reason we made it through the night was the fan I bring on international travel we can use to blow air directly on her. Each night we woke up hot between 12:30am and 2:30am and even though the A/C setting was at 18.5 C, it was already at 20 C and just blowing not cool air. The temperature would continue to rise and typically when we woke up it was 21 to 22 C. I am not naive, and do understand how European/International hotels will reduce and control air conditioning, but I have also raised the issue when it has happened in both Greece and Italy and both times they could override it for the room for the duration of the stay. So, I know it can be done. The Movenpick hotel management made the choice not to. If it was not for the excellent service provided by the staff, Shahd in Guest Relations, Hamada and Mahmoud at the Pool, and Ramadan at the morning Breakfast buffet, I would have given a 2 instead of a 3. The guest services staff at this hotel is impeccable, the food is outstanding, and the grounds are beautiful. Hotel management needs a wake up call to not nickel and dime guests over energy costs when they pay $300+ USD a night.

Very noisy hotel with nice staff

The staff at the hotel were all very nice and were the highlight of the hotel. the downside was that for the first 2 nights we did t really sleep. We were upgraded to a suite in the old building and the noise from both the river (loud music) and the building meant we asked to be moved into a small room instead on the other side of the building. This was even noisier with loud music again till about 2 am. The food at the pool was lovely and the other restaurants we tried were ok.

Expected better from a 5⭐️ hotel

Location: Amazing location on the Nile Resort: Beautiful and well maintained Restaurant/ Food: Good food and service at Orangarie, Mezze, and Panaroma 360 Staff: Friendly and welcoming Room: Disappointing. We had upgraded to the duplex room. Room was spacious. But it was outdated, carpet was stained, very old and dusty. Don’t stay in the old tower building. Very run down. Expected better from a 5⭐️ hotel for the price we paid. Front desk: Unfortunately, we didn’t receive the level of service from a high end hotel. We got better service from other staff at the hotel. Not sure how a high end hotel has not invested in front desk training. Our check in experience was not very pleasant. Spa: Good experience. Overall, we had an average experience in Aswan. We hope things improve at Mövenpick. They seem to be geared to deal with Nike river cruise crowd, but don’t cater towards individual travelers who don’t want the same big group experience.

Everything ran smoothly from start to finish, with no issues at all. The hotel was comfortable, well located, and delivered exactly what you’d expect from the brand. Special mention to Taysser for her professionalism and patient Highly recommended 👌
