A great stay.

Lovely stay for 9 nights in a 2 bedroom connecting suite on the 7th floor. Clean, comfortable, quiet, with a great breakfast varied enough to ring the changes over the 9 days. Staff were exceptional, polite, attentive, helpful and they smiled a lot. Really enjoyed chocolate hour with the chocolate fountain and happy hour drinks. Live music out on the terrace by the night bazaar was a great place to hang out. A totally unpretentious but old 'lady' classic hotel, the staff perform well above the 4 star rating of the hotel and could teach some Singapore 5 star hotels a thing or two about classy service. Well done movenpick suriwongse Chiang Mai. 🌞

Great location but hotel is “tired”

The location of Mövenpick was great! It is in the center of tons of things to see and do within Chiang Mai. That is the best thing about this hotel. As a hotel, it is average by our standards (I travel a lot and have a lot of contributions on TripAdvisor…I’m very fair with my reviews.) The staff was friendly and helpful, but I had to ask for a lot of things…like having toilet paper supplied to our room. They never re-supplied the room after cleaning. I had to call for 2 rolls everyday. Not that we use a lot daily, the rolls don’t last very long. Also, the room had a weird and older/musty smell. The bed was comfortable and the A/C worked great, which made the room comfortable for sleeping. The bar offers a Happy Hour all day, 2 for 1 cocktails. However, the drinks are so watered down or mild that I needed to drink double to have the same effect as bars in the USA. I don’t know if this is a Thai thing or this hotel. Overall, the Movenpick is “tired.” That’s why I only rate it a 3 star. I don’t think I’d stay here again.

Not happy here

I simply cannot believe that the maximum ratings here are realistic! This hotel simply does not deserve praise. The first impression upon arrival was indeed phenomenal, but everything changed as soon as I stepped out of the elevator. The carpets are completely dirty, the paint are peeling, and the property showed visible signs of wear from humidity and poor maintenance. Upon entering the room, it was even worse: a strong smell of urine and mold. The furniture and equipment are old, probably once worthy of 5 stars. Despite the air conditioning, the room felt uncomfortably humid. I wonder when the air conditioning was last cleaned, or if the sanitary inspection ever checks for mold and other health-hazardous issues

Okay for the price

Clean but very dated and in desperate need of renovation. Musky smell in the room and carpets that need to be removed or replaced. Friendly staff. It’s okay for one night if the price is right, but would not want to stay longer.

Warm welcome and nice place to stay

Thank you to K.ice for warm welcome at the hotel lobby. Thank you to room division (K.Sunit Suates) for writing and preparing amenities in room for us. Thank you to all F&B team in Fuang fah restaurant for providing good dinner. K.James and all the F&B team had done his job very well.
