So happy we stayed here

Everything was just perfect! The rooms, bed, pillows, breakfast buffet, food, bar and staff. Most especially Wat from Bittersweet bar. Can’t wait to be back! Walking distance from Central Embassy.

Memorable stay

Had a memorable time at this hotel. The staff were all friendly and accommodating especially Mr. Wat from the bar. He always served my friends and me with a bright smile and friendly disposition. He made us feel at home. And the layout of the hotel is very comfortable.

Toxic air coming from the canal, surrounded by construction. Avoid this place.

I stayed for 5 nights at Movenpick BDMS retreat, and while I found the room comfortable, and the staff were great, I wouldn't suggest anyone else stay here. Firstly, the hotel is surrounded by construction on all sides. One site is about 20 meters from the pool, and it is extremely active and noisy. There are also 2 buildings under construction across the canal. They're maybe 100m from the balcony of canal rooms, and they're also noisy and active. This make the environment fairly uncomfortable, and not at all peaceful. Secondly, and more importantly, the air quality off the balcony of the canal facing rooms is absolutely atrocious. The canal is fairly active, and whenever boats go by (which happens every 2mn, sometimes more often) the air becomes thick with rotten egg smell, and the Formaldehyde levels shoot through the roof to extremely unsafe levels. I travel with a laser air quality meter and took measurements of Formaldehyde that were nearly 17x the max safe level. This nasty air made it into the room fairly easily, as the doors to the balcony are not well sealed, and deteriorated the indoor air quality as well. I'm a fairly large guy, but after 5 days of breathing this air in I started getting headaches and dizziness, so I left about a week earlier than I otherwise would have. I'd avoid staying here for the time being, until the poolside construction finishes and you can request a poolside room to avoid the nasty, toxic air around the canal (now this would mean being faced with serious construction noise)
