The hotel is beautiful, lovely rooms, comfy beds and the location is great but i have never experienced this level of service in a 5* hotel. Check-in was ridiculously slow (nearly an hour!) And this was for everyone, not just us, and with only ever 2 staff working, whenever you needed anything you had to queue for ages and then nothing seemed straightforward. This was at any time of the day. Service in the bar was hopeless, we gave up. Pool service too. Terrible tasting paella at their spanish restaurant. Housekeeping really inconsistent, sometimes they didn’t even empty the bin when it was full, asked for extra hand towel for the week (why not one per person as a standard?!) but this was only sometimes done, charging anything was a mission - sometimes plugs worked, sometimes not. Only one lift working in zidane block, which required more waiting. Struggled to find a table at breakfast, staff so slow to turn the tables around. Didn't bother with eggs after waiting half an hour on the first day because the queue was always so long and they were so slow. A couple of exceptions but overall just really disappointing interactions with staff who weren’t friendly or welcoming, no engagement, even with the children which we found so strange given the warmth of the locals we met outside of the hotel who were some of the friendliest characters we’ve met on our travels in africa and the middle east. If you stay here, take your patience and go without the expectation of a 5* service or food offering, be prepared to wait for everything, enjoy the aesthetic and the size of the rooms and location. Although take earplugs as next door hotel’s music pounds through loudly. Not movenpick’s fault but certainly added to the frustration of the experience. Oh and your Accor status counts for nothing!
This is the 2nd Movenpick we have stayed at, and it didn’t disappoint in terms of our expectations. The hotel is beautiful and the grounds are maintained spotlessly, there always seemed to be teams of gardeners and cleaners constantly working very hard. The food was excellent as were the drinks, and the large pool was great, and it looked amazing at night with the lights on. We booked an airport pick-up and drop-off with the hotel and it was very nice, we had a Maserati Levante for both trips and it worked out around £45 each trip which was excellent value for the comfort. The only frustration for me was the chaotic and slow check-in and check-out process, we queued for 30mins to get to the desk and it took another 25mins to complete the check-in. The most frustrating part of this is that you are presented with a pen and a form to fill in for every person in your party, and every piece of information that they ask of you can easily be provided digitally in advance when you book the hotel. On top of that, the check-in and check-out area is very small for a hotel that holds 1000+ guests, and we rarely saw more than two people processing guests at any one time. There is plenty of room in the general area that could be repurposed to build a reception with 5-6 people on process the guests. There were a lot of very frustrated guests throughout the week and it Movenpick don’t address this I can see a lot of guests choosing not to go through the frustration again, and the Movenpick will lose out on returning guests.
Disappointed stay for Accor ALL guest with no special attention and no upgrade and no Guest relations member to talk to ! Will never come back…Service to be improved and corrected ignoring emails and requests ! Have seen better service from Accor Teams
Hotel entrance is grand, however as others have posted the check-in process took forever and staff were very much dis-organised. For a big hotel with 500 guest rooms to have only 4 staff checking guests in you can only imagine the mayhem that followed. nearly every guest waiting with us complained. We arrived at the hotel at 11.30 and were checked In at approx 1pm. first delay. we were advised to come back at 3pm to collect the room keys. we expected to collect keys from a different desk but we had to wait with other guests who were queuing to check-in. Second delay to get keys. we eventually got our rooms keys at 5pm. Totally wasted a whole day. we have planned to go to Medina after check in but couldn't due to all the delays. Given a room in the Zidane building which only had one lift working out of two. So going up and down was taking for ever. I can definitely say that Guest Relation Abu Bakar was outstanding, he listened to our complaints and went above and beyond to help us resolve any issues and make our remaining stay comfortable. Thankyou so much Abu Bakar for your help. The other outstanding member of staff we cam across was Imane from concierge, who helped us books our tours and day trips. Very helpful and knowledgeable about where to shop for specific items. Thank you Imane for the tips you provided and
