We arrived on Friday 20th around 23:30 and noticed that the lobby was quite full. While checking in we were informed that no keys could be made for the rooms and we had to wait for someone to come to allow us in our rooms and would need to do this each and every time we wanted to visit our rooms. This solved the reason as to why the lobby was as full of people as everyone was waiting to go to their room. We thought we could hit the bar while we waited but found out they had closed it so we simple had to wait 10-15 minutes in the lobby with everyone else for someone to come and ferry us to multiple floors while helping to get people into there rooms one by one. Not the best start it has to be said. We were offered a drink at the bar on the house but the next day on Saturday the bar was still closed at 11:00 in the morning and when we returned at night at 22:00 they had just closed so no joy again on this front. When enquiring about the room key we were told by a different member of staff that it had been broke for a while and the group that currently own the hotel will be selling the hotel off and chances are they will not be making any repairs over the next 2 weeks as that’s when they plan on closing the hotel. This is evident in the lift to the rooms, only 1 of the 2 lifts works and makes a loud screeching noise when in operation and is in dire need of a health check. The room was big with a sofa and table that had 2x complementary 0.5l water bottles on it. Next to the sofa is the sink area and the bath that’s in the main room. A little weird but ok if you like that sort of thing. The bathroom is a pale yellow and is very much dated and consists of the toilet and the shower which only gets to lukewarm at best. The bed is massive but seems like 2 small doubles put together and a big sheet thrown over it and it was a little hard in places. The bed also had with 2 separate duvet covers and a full sized pillow and a half a pillow on each side for some reason. At one point this seemed to be a really nice hotel but it has been left to fall apart. If you can stay elsewhere before the hotel changes hands then I would highly recommend you to although I would be wary of the issues needing to be fixed which won’t happen overnight for whoever takes it on.
Great location at Anhalter Bahnhof. If you take the lift from the platform it takes you to the street about 50m from the hotel door. Very quiet. Our room had a bath in it. Great, but the water never got hot. Take a travel kettle if you want a hot drink. There is a coffee capsule machine but it does not get the water hot, only tepid. Can control room temperature which is most welcome. Excellent breakfast selection. Staff very friendly although you have to chase requests, e.g. more pillows, or they don't get fulfilled.
My stay was good until I checked out, told I would receive the €100 deposit back (taken from me when I arrived) within 5-7 working days. Now at 9 working days and I still have not received it. I have sent a number of emails and had no response. I understand the hotel is closing its doors in January, if my experience is anything to go by I am not surprised. I’m also assuming my money is lost because they are closing and therefore no longer care what type of review they get.
We stayed for 4 nights. It was the worse Mövenpick and worse Accor we have ever stayed at. Service was terrible. The room did not have a kettle so I asked for one on 3 separate occasions. All staff members said they would follow it up but never did. We had this experience every time we asked the front desk for anything - they would just say yes and you would never hear from them again. Housekeeping was not good quality. On check out we accidentally left something valuable in the room. I called the hotel and told them - they told me they would. Check the room and call me back, I never heard from them again and they have not been answering my emails. We are members of Accor and the hotel did not acknowledge this membership or our entitlements at all. Would not stay again and do not recommend it. I think a better standard of service would have been received at a less expensive hotel.
Used this hotel for a 4 day, 3 night stay to explore Berlin. From the minute we walked through the doors, we tell we had chosen well. The staff were all friendly and helpful and even placed us and our travelling party in adjacent rooms. Everything was immaculate whilst the bar was staffed by knowledgeable people. Breakfast offered a vast range of foods to suit all for 4 hours per morning and the rooms were full equipped with everything that was needed. Only minor complaint was that it was a double bed but with 2 single duvets and the pillows were hardly worthy of being called pillows. An excellent hotel, would definitely recommend and use again
