Keep receipts, of everything. I paid my city tax on the second day of my stay as they had made a mistake and only took it then. No problem, I thought. On leaving they charged my friend again for city tax and she was meek enough to just pay as they insisted they were right. They then made 2 unauthorised attempts to charge her card, without saying anything, for bike rental that I had paid in cash. Thankfully the bank blocked this. Upon calling them, they agreed to refund the additional charge but just keep receipts, they are absolutely hopeless at keeping track and will try and make you pay for their errors. I can excuse a single error, but repeated errors including making unauthorised card charges demonstrate that staff here are not trained to do the job they are doing.
I stayed here for three nights at the beginning of August and paid in full ahead of the visit. The hotel is nice enough but my problems started after check-out. Following the stay, and having checked my bank account, I realised that the hotel had charged the full room rate to my bank card (which I had provided in the usual way for incidental expenses incurred during the stay). I called them and asked to speak to the accounts team and was told nobody was available and to send an email. Over a week later, I have heard nothing back and the €400+ remains charged to my account. I’ve stayed in hundreds of hotels all over the world and have never experienced this type of issue. Completely unacceptable that the charge is made in the first instance and then not rectified or addressed when raised. I would therefore absolutely not recommend this establishment.
Perfect clean room. Nice and massive building. Good and fresh breakfast. Staff is very attentive. Good sauna and pleasant facilities. Easy check in and check out. Good located in the heart of the city and next door to the famous Sternschanze.
Check in / out fast and friendly. Rooms in very good conditions, house keeping is doing a great job. Wifi is fast and stable enough for HD streaming…. Breakfast variety and quality outstanding! Internal car parking for a reasonable price available. Hotel architecture very special and unique. As a Accor diamond member I got more than I expected. I’ll definitely come back! Many thx
I'm writing this review as part of my ongoing project to consolidate all my travel booking experiences on Trip Advisor, even though the platform typically doesn't allow reviews for stays that occurred more than a year ago. My stay at the Mövenpick Hotel in Hamburg was linked to a conference I spoke at, which dictated my choice of accommodation due to its proximity to the event. Mövenpick Hotel is located in central Hamburg, which was incredibly convenient for attending the conference and exploring the city. The hotel itself offered a very restful stay with excellent amenities and services that you would expect from a high-end hotel. The comfort and quality of the hotel were truly top-notch. However, all the relaxation and the positive aspects of my stay were somewhat overshadowed by the cost. It was the most expensive hotel I've ever stayed in, and the final bill was quite a shock. While I anticipated higher prices due to its central location and the Mövenpick brand, the actual cost significantly exceeded my expectations and impacted my overall experience. In summary, while the Mövenpick Hotel in Hamburg offers luxury and an excellent location, be prepared for the high cost, which might not be justified for all travelers. If budget is a concern, it might be worth considering other options despite the undeniable allure of this hotel's offerings.
