Super nice hotel with a wonderful beach. Good food. Very polite staff. Everything is great. They uprgraded our with no extra charge to a room with a great viewe. Especially thanks to always smiling Salem from housekeeping.
I stayed with my family for five nights at this movenpick hotel and would definitely recommend this as the best choice hotel in Sousse. The tour with the Tunis Tourist board was a lovely day BUT if you do the day tour that includes Sidi Bou Siad do be aware that the lunch location is far from good. It’s below standard. Cats running about where you eat, no options of choice. I am vegetarian and the option was chicken with rice and carrots or just chips with rice and carrots. On telling the tour guide Hafis our thoughts he was very offended. The driver for the tour, Farris was very friendly and helpful with my cousin who needed mobility assistance. The bus seats were a little tight and became uncomfortable after a whole day riding. We visited the marina and went to a lovely upstairs restaurant which I would recommend visiting but when the day is warmer as March is sunny but chilly at times. On the other hand inside the hotel the staff were friendly and helpful. The main hotel restaurant on the entrance floor provided a lovely meal albeit lots of oil on my fish it was tasty and they looked after us well. In the restaurant downstairs The staff Rachid, Brahim and Adel were fun and made extra effort to support us making our meal times (we were full board) very pleasant and advised us on Tunisian culture in a positive way.
The first time in Tunisia and the Movenpick Hotel & Spa in Sousse has made it so I would return. Tunisia is a beautiful country, though we stayed in Sousse we got to go to Tunis which is steeped in history. Having travelled extensively around the world, this is one of THE best hotels I have stayed at. What makes it exceptional is the high level of customer care service the staff give. The hotel is very nice with all the facilities you could ever want available and great a choice/selection of food. However, the service of excellence by the staff makes the hotel beautiful. There is nothing too much for them and always done with a smile. Friendly, respectful, and professional and yet makes you feel as if you are home away from home. The hotel does offer AC but it is not on in the month of March - be mindful March is a cold month for Tunisians although hot for westerners so you may have to leave your balcony door open for a cool breeze but I hasten to add the hotel is safe and they have security on the grounds. It is customary to tip in Tunisia, and I would encourage you to do so - it is nice to show appreciation for a job well done. If you do get a taxi, always set/agree a price before you get in.....no need to tip taxi drivers. Haggling is standard with taxis and in the medina, so have fun with it. If they don't agree with the price, you can always move along to the next. The only suggestion I would make is that all the 5* hotels I've stayed in have robes and slippers in rooms as standard, Movenpick should consider implementing this. But think, if that is the only suggestion, then the hotel has pretty much everything on point. A BIG thank you to those staff that were so accommodating to me and my friend for our entire stay - Housekeepers Ruth and Fatiha, Miream(Spa), Sabeur(Security) the guy with the beach towels (sorry didn't get his name), Waiters Brahim, Raschid and Ammar. All the above named were very attentive and contributed highly to a wonderful stay and should get a pay increase for all their hard work and professionalism. SPECIAL thanks go to the following - Aziz and Osram(Front desk) all holidays can be make or break by the way you are checked in and these guys were outstanding, friendly and met all our requirements. Aziz was one of the staff members who was instrumental in making sure I was happy - I was displeased with my roomview, and he was very accommodating in changing my room with a better view. Ahmed the concierge, a delightful gentleman - from the moment we stepped onto the property, he was there to take our luggage. He was very quick and efficient in bringing our luggage to our separate rooms and when I had to change rooms he collected all my luggage and moved it over taking care to hang my jacket etc for me in my new room. He made everything so stress free. And last but not least, Ahmed(Resturant Supervisor) every request made to him was adhered to and more. From seating us for breakfast, dinner, and when we chose to do lunch. Ensuring we and other guests were attended to, it was a marvel to see. He has the gift of making every guest feel unique. Having desserts taken to the room (because the choice is so much and tasty; I didn't want to leave it...call me greedy😀), but he happily arranged this and more for us. He is an absolute star and an asset to the hotel. He and the others above not only deserve a pay increase but also a promotion. What an amazing team the Movenpick Sousse hotel has. They work in a state of excellence, and I highly recommend this hotel and the staff. This review does not fully sum up the excellent, brillant, and amazing stay we had, which was all due to the attention, friendliness, efficiency, and professionalism of the staff. My friend and I have every intention of returning to Tunisia next year and would not stay anywhere but the Moevenpick Resort & Marine Spa Hotel Sousse. Thank you all for a wonderful time.
