One of my favorite red sea locations in Egypt. Low key resort, quiet and very comfortable, with everything one might need, great food, service, location, beach, diving, you name it. Highly recommended!
Great hotel in every way. Delicious food, wonderful sandy beach, great water to swim with sandy bottom - you don’t need shoes to swim but take your fins because you can snorkel directly from the beach; the house reef is in great condition. The staff is eccelent - always smiling and very helpfull but never offensive.
Very picturesque and well- maintained resort, with a luxurious side. We loved our staying in this resort and for sure would want to come back. The food is excellent, varied and tasteful, the sea is beautiful, with various types of sea creatures, the rooms are clean, equipped with everything you need. The fish are bigger than on other areas, we spotted a very big murena and crocodile fish. Even if the weather was windy, we were able to get in the sea everyday, due to the bay and the direct entrance from the nice shore. The beach is beautiful, with fine sand, the resort is amazing with beautiful architecture...very nice to take long walks through it. We also want to give big thanks to the staff, which is very friendly, ready to help with whatever we needed. In this direction, we would like to give special thanks to M. Fawzy, from the resort's reception desk, who was very helpful and friendly. He spent many hours to help us with a phone card that we bought from the airport and didn't work and also did his best to make our staying there as good as possible, trying to help with every need that we had. As a conclusion, we recommend this resort 200%!
We had a good last day (out of 8) that shows, how nice it could be at the movenpick - if you're lucky. The other 7 days we were not happy - it seems that we had bad luck. We've heard of people who prior had good times. The last 3 nights in the room were comfortable. The food was nice and the cooks are very polite, especially with the kids. Don't book all inclusive - it's not what you would expect with "all inclusive". It's too expensive and there are many exceptions - especially for kids. And: the personel is obviously used to tips and advised to generate money - as soon as they realize you have booked all inclusive they will start to ignore you. If you have booked all inclusive: give the personel tips, they will be more polite again. By the way: the movenpick ice cream is not inclusive in the all inclusive package - despite the name of the hotel and what one would assume. Our room was not clean, the phone to the reception didn't work, one of the showers hardly had any water, the power oulet in the bath didn't work, the soap in the bath was empty and not refilled for 5 days (until we left), the air conditioning didn't work for 5 nights and after it was fixed, there was a black sauce in the shower that stank of petrol because they simply poured in the shower what droped down from the ceiling. The drain was clogged after this too and stank the whole night and the following day. If the room is not ok, insist at the reception. Maybe you have to go several times, until the really do what is necessary. Book the cheapest possible room and go outside, because the environment is very nice! The children's playground is nice - we spent many hours there. We haven't used the childcare more than once - if you want your kids to play and not just watch television, take care of your kids yourself. The beach is nice and the reef impressive! Be prepared that there is a lot of wind and you may not be allowed to go into the water for several days because the red flag is up. The pool can be really comfortable (out of our 8 days this was the case in one day). It can be very cool too - altough it is supposed to be heated (between 28 - 30 degrees the told us). Go to the reception and insist that they heat the pool. In the pool - especially in the kids pool you can check if the pool is heated. Go to the little water outlets at the ground - if there is warm water coming out, they heat, otherwise they dont. Yes they can heat up, you just have to insist (maybe several times). If you need a wetsuit for kids because they freeze (neoprene), directly contact the "scuba store hurghada", they will help you (the reception will try but won't be sucessful for days). The management will somehow listen to your problems, but will not be able to solve them. So it's up to you. If you're lucky, you will have a very nice stay at the movenpick! If you have bad luck make sure you're not unhappy with the money invested.
We visited this resort after a full week on a sailing boat from Luxor to Aswan and back. The combination between Egypt culture tours and relaxation is excellent. This resort has clean Nubian style rooms, excellent service, excellent food, friendly staff, an amazing beach with a coral reef. This reef is very rich in Fisch. We saw a devilish and a ton of exotic Fisch every day. The prices a ok and for an European certainly attractive. This allowed us to book several services and tours like a quad tour or massages. The quad tour took place in the desert which had an amazing environment. We really enjoyed our guide and even the selling event was ok. Just keep in mind that these selling events are quite normal in Egypt and if you don't want to buy something you don't have to. We chose half pension which was enough for us. I think when you travel with kids a full pension service is recommended. All inklusive wasn't worth it for us since we didn't drink a lot of alcohol or Softdrinks throughout the day. You need to exceed at least 45€ per person everyday in drinks so that it would be worth it. What we also enjoyed was the fitness opportunities. You can play squash, tennis, basketball, soccer, giant chess, pool and tabletennis. We only stayed one week and felt we could stayed here for three weeks. We will come back next year.
