The hotel experienced some issues during my 20 day stay at Movenpick. Firstly, the minibar was faulty, leaking onto the floor and hindering my ability to order from Uber Eats or plan a meal. Additionally, the TV remote was frequently malfunctioning. More importantly, I had paid for the accommodation in advance, bypassing the checkout moment as a gesture of goodwill toward the hotel. However, the payment took 4 to 5 business days to transfer from my bank account to Movenpick's Swiss bank account. Upon my arrival, the hotel began charging my personal Visa card, suspecting that the payment hadn't gone through. Even after the transfer was completed within the expected timeframe, they held captive one week's payment as a 'budget available for the 20 days,' which made me feel super unwelcome. However, things normalized as the weeks went by. I would like to express my appreciation for Alex at the reception, who consistently provided exceptional assistance!
For the exorbitant rate they charge per night, and yes, I know Swiss in general is expensive, there are way better, cleaner and more luxurious alternatives. To start of on a positive note, the staff during check-in were absolutely friendly and helpful. The location is superb and the breakfast was decent. However. The hotel really is not up to Movenpick-standards. The hotel could really use a revamp. Everything feels/looks old and worn. Many damages in for example the room and communal spaces. The corridor smelt old and odd. The open shower concept feels awkward as there is no frosted glass or anything of that kind. My main concern was the cleanliness of the room. As I’m mildly allergic to dust, its important that the room is cleaned properly. This one turned out not to be. This ruined my next day as I’ve had to spend the entire day sneezing, coughing and feeling astmethic+sick. Not really a nice surprise. Addressed my concerns during check-out (as I only noticed it as soon as I woke up) but the gentleman did not know what to say or how to handle a complaint. When youre paying €250+ a night, regardless of it being in Swiss or not, these are no things you’d expect for that price. I’d rather stay in a Novotel for half the price than to stay in this Movenpick again.
For IMD students this is the closest hotel, separated only by a 3 minute walk across a tranquil park. There is a cafe and bar on ground level which provides a great view of the lake and marina. A supermarket Migros is sited within the compound and makes for easy top-up of essential items. The gym is well-equipped. The rooms are generally clean. Beds are comfortably firm and custom pillows available on request. Daily refill of spring water is a bonus to potable tap water. Nespresso in room. Even for a “standard” room which is the most basic of room types, the toilets are well maintained. Staff are friendly and try their best even if a few under training are inexperienced. What’s not to like about this hotel? Highly recommended!
a very pleasant hotel. a beautiful view, very good location, a few steps from the metro and walkable to the city center. the rooms are spacious and have good Wi-Fi connection. very warm welcome at the reception, thanks to the team especially to the young people with the trainee badge. good value for money.
The hotel location is good just next to the lake geneva and 2 mins walk to metro station to get access to the old town! Rooms are good in size as compared to other 4-star hotels in Switzeland! I had my room in 1st floor which had the view of the Gum😄! Staffs are friendly and nice! Breakfast was really good!
