Mövenpick Zurich Airport

You pay a decent hotel with AC and there was ZERO airconditioning when the outside temps are close to 28°C. Was offered 2 different rooms and not one AC was blowing air. I use a piece of bathroom tissue on the vents to check for air circulation but it was not moving. Even the staff member was puzzled on how warm the room was. We stayed for 5 nights and had to put up with an electric fan. Worse is they tried to make amends by offering us ice cream. This has been an ongoing problem over the last few months, and apparently the manager has not been doing anything to correct the problem. If you are visiting Zurich in the summertime, you need to stay away from this hotel unless you like sleeping dripping in sweat.

The hotel was very near to the tram station, five minute walk. We could catch a tram to the city and the airport as well. They provide shuttle service to the airport too. Decor wise the rooms were a bit dated and need to be modernised. The room size was quite large. Buffet was extensive though.

The room smelt like smoke, so someone came to spray the room which had no effect at all. It was 28 degrees when I arrived and the air conditioning was completely ineffectual. I opened the window to get some air and try and alleviate the smoke smell, but the hotel was right next to the autobahn, which meant car noise all night long. This made it impossible to sleep. The shower is above the bath, and the bathroom is slippery. No anti slip mats are provided. Whilst the staff are friendly, and try their best, reception was understaffed and overwhelmed by airline crews and bus tours. While I was checking in, at least five people came down to say their room key wasn't working, and they had to be recut. Whist this may well be the first Movenpick hotel in Switzerland, it is certainly the oldest and tiredest. It needs a complete makeover, with soundproofing and air conditioning that actually works.
