Check in time is 3

Check in was at 3, we arrived early and they allowed us to put the bags in a storage room. When we arrived back at 4, our room was not ready, so they upgraded us to another room. the room was large and had a great bed. Air conditioning was not working, when we called down they told us to open the window as Air is not operating in the hotel in May. We ate in the le chalet in the lobby. The food was good, but expensive. They also have a shuttle to the airport at no charge.

I got ripped off by the staff

Upon check in I paid the 7 CHF cash hotel tax (3.50/p for 1 night) at reception with a woman name Dilan. She didn't give me a receipt as she said I don't need it & I didn't question as it was only 7 CHF. Upon check out handing in our cards, I confirmed that there are no charges & was told yes. When I got home a $12.07 was charged on my Cdn credit crd. I emailed them through Expedia, no reply. Got Expedia involved & the hotel replied that it was for the hotel tax, which I had paid in cash upon check in! Dilan had pocked my money and I'm not happy about that! A lesson has been learned here, get a receipt no matter how small the amount!

Run Down Hotel from 1973 Owned by a Famous Finacial Institution, Badly Managed

Upon timely arrival there was no free room I was told. After some waiting I was given room 816 (they said "upgraded"), which is adjacent to the room 814 depicted. Room 814 was being sanitized by means of heat, which means that the adjacent wall between the rooms were hot like a heating. Despite trying to cool down my room with the temperature regulator hotel staff late night had to emergency-open a usually permanently shut window so that some fresh air could enter to what felt like an oven. This on the other hand meant that light and noise were accompanying me the whole night. And only after hours was the room temperature ok. I couldn't close an eye until I went to the airport early in the morning. In addition, when senior staff interrupt customer reception interaction for a private conversation you wait for it to end. QR codes in the rooms don't work. Shuttle schedule only upon request available at the reception, nowhere else to be found where one would look for it. Shuttle driver not fluent of any language I speak (DE, EN, FR, ES for example). This was my second stay. During my first I had security related incident but did not suffer from any loss or harm because I was inside my room. I am Swiss citizen who grew up relatively close, so there is no cultural misunderstanding and there was no language issue in play either. The issue simply is profit at the cost before service / quality. Even though I own some shares of the parent company of Mövenpick Hotel Zürich Airport, there is little I can do. If it were for me I would be happy with a smaller dividend if the necessary investments in the property were made. Bottom Line: A run down hotel with 4 stars which I would give 2 stars for a quality and service, and the lack of any modern access control for both inside and outside

Look Elsewhere

This hotel is sorely outdated and not up to any standard in my opinion. We were booked for a premium king, but the bed was NOT a king and the staff just basically shrugged it off, saying that is how the hotel room is ranked in their system. The place smells musty and they try to cover it with scented "cleaning" products. Our room did not feel clean at all, rather as though a cursory wipe down missed many details, such as grimy fingerprints on the glass bathroom door. We were told the shuttle from the airport runs every 15 minutes, but they did not mention the driver takes an afternoon break, so waited over an hour for a pickup. Overall not a great experience and I suggest anyone staying at the airport explore other options.

Poor Breakfast service and housekeeping. Not expected such service in a Movenpick hotel. Lady server and chef in live.

Breakfast is poor. When I ask for an Omlet Chef in Live counter and waitress response was very bad. Early morning such arrogance on requests spoil our day. I found someone’s items in my room and a housekeeping duster when I checked in. Handed over to Reception desk.
