The hotel is conveniently located close to the Zurich Airport and has free and frequent shuttle service to the departures area at the airport that goes every 20 minutes. The beds are comfy and the room is well stocked with free bottled water, tea/coffee station with a few options and a mini fridge. The shower was nice with good pressure but has the combined hair/body wash gel in a dispenser so you may want to consider bringing your own bath products. The linens were clean and soft but there were some crumbs left on the chair that made us feel it wasn't as clean as we thought it should be at the hotel. They did provide one small chocolate for the two of us in a small Swiss flag package but we feel they should have two. The rooms at this hotel run a bit warm even in November and with the window open and it wasn't as restful a sleep as we would like to get before a flight. The lighting in the room is all provided by lamps and we felt it was odd that the left side of the bed had a switch to control the lamp outlet on the right side of the bed. We felt the lamp should have its own control near it and I did unplug it before I went to bed because we didn't discover the wall switch until the next morning and simply unplugged it. That plug in is also difficult to access and I had difficulty getting lights on in the room in the morning because I also unplugged the desk lamp for the tea kettle and did not know where the floor lamp switch was. Check in went quite smooth and the front desk staff were friendly - They offered to set up an Accor membership account and offered two free welcome drinks to us. The hotel has a bar in the lobby area, offers breakfast for an additional fee and has a small convenience store behind the front desk where you can get snacks or Movenpick ice cream. Check out was quick as well and we were able to get on to the free shuttle bus easily but it is first come first serve so it might be worth going a bit early if you're in a hurry. We got to the airport a little late to return our car rental and it was a bit tricky getting to the hotel. We went to the hotel shuttle area and could not find the shuttle that went to the Movenpick despite asking a few drivers. It is about a 10 minute drive from the airport itself so we asked a taxi driver and they offered to do the ride for 30 CHF which was insane considering Uber can do it for 15 CHF. The tram was the best option and took us from Banhof to Banhof Balsberg station for 2.8 CHF each and it was a short walk to the hotel entrance.
The rooms in this hotel are too hot. The air conditioning and the staff seem to be able to have no effect on that. It was almost too hot to sleep at all, although the beds themselves are very comfortable. The windows do open somewhat but not enough to make a difference. They must be wasting a fortune in energy heating the place so much and it seems to be an ongoing problem based on previous rooms. On the other hand it is very well situated close (less than 5 minutes) to Bahnhof Balsberg where you can get both the tram and the S-bahn to the centre of Zurich or the airport (it's only one stop and 2 minutes to the airport). The family discount of 50% for a second room if your family is big enough to need one is very welcome.
This hotel Was picked by a tour company the hotel is very nice that's nice breakfast, but it was not in a city of Zurich it was too far to walk, and the train was a few blocks away. Not knowing the language there's been more difficult for us. The tour company could have booked us Closer to the city to able to walk. This hotel is more residential area and nothing to see or do
I travel more frequently and today happened to where I visited the movenpick in Zurich. The staff at the reception the Ms Clare was extremely friendly , helpful and efficient. The Gentleman in restaurant was too the same. The customer service was at the highest. One of the best hotels I have visited.
Upon my check-in, they used the type of the document (Identity Card) and entered it as my name and surname. When I approached the reception during the stay, they made fun of me and my name. Upon check-out, I received the invoice indicated that my name is Identity and my surname is Card (in my language, of course). I immediately asked to change it and use my name, because I need the proper invoice for the purpose of managing the costs of my business trip. The receptionist said that he cannot do it, but his boss can. He promised that I would receive the correct invoice. I asked hotel four times in the last week to send me the corrected invoice, but they are not responding at all. They seem to be reluctant to communicate. I am writing this review just for the purpose of getting some response from the hotel. Darjo Cizel (this is my real name)
