Reviews
Loved the proximity to the city and train station and easy to catch an Uber to the airport. Hotel staff were lovely, they had a great breakfast, and the room was very quiet and clean. I have stayed at the hotel on two different occasions and will definitely come back on my next trip.
Quite nice rooms and very nice dining room and breakfast buffet. We were with Avalon Waterways group and arriving early as most all; we could not check in until 3pm. There is much to do near there within walking distance, so not too bad. They give out cool chocolate suckers at 3pm. Highlight.
I stayed at the Movenpick for a whole week during a conference. The staff was super friendly, specially Gio from the concierge services, he was always welcoming me and all the guest with a smile on his face and making you feel very welcomed! The staff at the bar was also very nice and the food, specially the chicken burger which was recommended by one of the staff members :) Highly recommended!
The hotel is located near the riverboat docking & central train station which makes it convenient to travel in Amsterdam. On our second day eating in the restaurant/lounge on the main level we were entertained by at least 3 MICE running around on the floor area and under the seats!!! We talked to a worker who said yes they have been there for a while and management knows but said something like the City or Municipality said they could not kill the MICE?? We complained to the Management but only received a token compensation!! Not impressed with the situation nor the outcome!! We spoke with others on our trip and there are better choices nearby for less than half the $442 CDN per night. Stay Away.
Reviewed: Movenpick Amsterdam (visited 4 nights: 1st Sep-5th Sep 2024) Negatives: Early check-in was not available. So had to wait till 3pm. On my previously visits they were able to accommodate this request. Coach/bus run between the hotel & Centraal Station has been stopped. Previously they had this service available every 30mins for guests. Upon arrival to the hotel for Check-In, girl on reception was very rude. If you don't have a credit card then they deduct a holding fee from your debit card of €50 per night upon your check-in. This is refunded at the end of your stay but takes 3-4 days to be refunded back into your bank account. There's also a €20 Euro 'City Tax' fee payable (per day) which is deducted from your deposit which I wasn't aware off, nor was I told about this when I booked with LoveHolidays! The Room was a bit 'dusty'. It could have been cleaner considering how much In paid to stay here. There were 2no. single beds in the room (even though I had emailed them in advance to tell them that I had booked a room with double-bed for me and my wife!). There was standing water in the shower when used due to it being slow to drain. It was ok during my previous visits. Overall extremely disappointed!! Especially considering that I had Paid €200+ Euros per night to stay here. This was my 'go-to' hotel in Amsterdam for many years (5 visits including this one). But unfortunately this is probably going to be my last visit. Sorry Movenpick but your Standards have gone down by quite a few points! If I'm going to spend my hard-earned cash on a holiday - I would expect you to at least get the basics correct, as it's YOU who is providing a service to the paying customers 👎🏾😔 Positives: The only saving grace of our visit was the exceptional treatment received from the restaurant staff during breakfast - they were extremely happy to help! 👍🏽😊
