Mövenpick Petra

We've stayed at other Movenpick properties and I'd rate this one the best. The facility is absolutely beautiful showcasing exquisite Jordanian artistry from the intricately gilded ceiling in the bar, to the detailing in the marble mosaic fountain in the courtyard, and the intricately inlaid chairs in the restaurant (it'd be easy to eat at the buffet every day because the food is so good but don't miss the experience of an elegant meal in the restaurant). Housekeeping is excellent - our (very comfortable) modern room was spotlessly clean, even the tiny corners. The location is literally across the street from the entrance to Petra and we were very grateful for that proximity when we left the park after an 8 mile hike (do consider booking a post-Petra hike massage at Zara Spa - your legs will thank you). However, what distinguishes a five star from a four-star hotel is the staff and Movenpick Petra truly deserves that fifth star. Everyone we met from waitstaff (Mary Ann and her team), to front desk, to housekeeping, to kitchen/cooks had genuine friendliness and I was impressed with their thoughtful attention to small details and care for our wellbeing. Even among five star hotels, only a few manage this level of attentive service (in my experience). There was an issue with the hotel electrics that resulted in some short power interruptions while we were staying. These were dealt with quickly and smoothly so we experienced no inconvenience (thank you to the speedy repair people!) which speaks to excellent behind-the-scenes management.

Highly recommend this beautiful hotel adjacent to the UNESCO site PETRA. Our group enjoyed 2 nights where we were spoiled by the excellent and friendly staff at the hotel The bar and lounge are magnificent and we enjoyed happy hour with a chocolate fondue bar and special happy hour specials. Special recognition to Yahya H, Al saraya restaurant Meath N. Mary Ann G, Rashaal maqad bar and Bam who welcomed and served us. The buffet is amazing and caters to all requests. You will be treated as special guests.

I don’t often feel like writing reviews but huge shout out to Mary Ann G and Muath N in the AL MAQA‘AD BAR. All staff were wonderful but they have truly made me feel welcome and a valued guest. Looking after me and all guests equally. Emphasis on equally. They were attentive and ensured all guest were looked after and served promptly even though they were busy and rushed off their feet. I have travelled to a few places in 4 & 5 star resorts. They are a rare breed and a credit to the hospitality industry.

Fabulous hotel on our visit to Petra. Layout is very nice with an appropriate Jordanian accent. Staff, Moatb.N and Mary Ann were attentive and kind in the Al Maqa’ad bar. Rooms were very nice and bathroom was excellent. Overall, all the staff were kind and accommodating.

The Petra Movempick is a very comfortable and well decorated hotel in an excellent location. Across the street from the entrance to Petra. The hotel employees are excellent and very professional and friendly. Especially Meath N. And Mary Ann G at the Al Maqa’ad bar
