Our stay at Movenpick Boracay was quite good with attentive service and great hospitality from staff. When we arrived, they provided us with a cake to celebrate our anniversary which was very appreciated :) The best part of our stay was the private beach and the cleanliness/maintenance of the beach/pools. The beach bar had a great DJ playing amazing mixes which created a lovely ambience and on top of that, happy hour was great! The downside of the resort was our rooms which perhaps required more maintenance due to the overpowering smell of sewerage in the bathroom and poor craftsmenship. At night, you could see the fine shadow of people in the shower/bathroom through the glass window. Bathrooms could definitely use an upgrade and amenities were very very limited. I understand the sustainable approach to limiting amenities but we had to request a lot of necessities like bathrobes, an iron and ironing board and etc which should be already provided as this is a five star resort and we pay a fair amount to stay here. Breakfast was also quite limited and sushi presentation could be improved. Although the resort is quite far and secluded from station 2 (d’mall, main eats), it offered a sense of reprieve and relaxation. We also utilised the shuttle service to d’mall which arrived/departed quite often which was so convenient.
A few months ago, my partner and I decided to visit Boracay and chose to stay at Movenpick Boracay. The hotel's location, situated at the far end of the island, proved ideal for a relaxing getaway. With a great swimming pool and a private beach, albeit not as pristine as white beach, we found ourselves thoroughly enjoying our time by the shore, which undoubtedly was the highlight of our stay at Movenpick Boracay. On the flip side, the room left much to be desired. Its outdated decor reminded us of the budget hostel we stayed in during our time in Pattaya, with the only notable improvement being a slightly better shower. Despite being categorized as a five-star hotel, Movenpick Boracay fell short of our expectations, especially when compared to other accommodations of the same standard. The old buildings on the property, along with the worn-out floor number signage, conveyed an overall lack of maintenance. The lagoon looks so dirty and has an unpleasant smell. Obtaining a good sea view required booking a room close to the shoreline, incurring an additional cost. Considering their room rates, we anticipated a more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing experience. The room allocated to us was quite a distance from the sea. While it was tolerable, our sleep was uneventful. However, considering the Movenpick brand, we anticipated a more comfortable experience. To our disappointment, the conditioner dispenser was entirely non-functional, housed in a cheap plastic container. I had to remove the lid manually to access the product. The towels appear worn and aged, giving the impression that they haven't been replaced for an extended period. Additionally, the absence of a pre-set bathroom arrangement is uncommon for a five-star hotel. We had to contact the operator to have the amenities brought to our room—a first for me in a five-star establishment. This oversight gives an impression of cost-cutting. Being earth friendly is good but if guest is paying hefty amount per night, they deserve to receive at least the basic items like a wooden toothbrush and earbuds. On a positive note, the housekeeping staff were all friendly and helpful. The dining experience was satisfactory. However, during breakfast, the food selection was limited, and the restaurant tended to get extremely busy. On a positive note, the pizza at their Italian restaurant was exceptional, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The drinks at the beach bar were also of good quality, and we relished our time spent there. Additionally, the beach bar offered delicious grilled food, adding to our overall enjoyment. In general, the majority of the staff proved to be friendly and accommodating especially staff from the restaurants and the housekeepers even the operators. However, there were instances where some appeared either inadequately trained or possibly reserved. While some front desk personnel were welcoming, I observed a few staff members merely standing idly without apparent tasks. Notably, I initially mistook a lady, who wasn't wearing the same uniform as the front desk ladies, for a guest. It turns out she is the room director, yet she seemed uninvolved in assisting her staff. This observation was disheartening, particularly considering the apparent fatigue among the staff who were still putting in their best effort. It's my belief that an effective leader should be capable of performing the tasks assigned to their staff, especially in demanding situations with a high volume of guests. I also work in the service industry so I know how tiring it could be. In summary, our stay was below average, and we're thankful it was limited to just a couple of nights as it did not meet our expectations. Movenpick Boracay is in urgent need of a comprehensive renovation to meet the Accor standard. Comparing it to other Movenpick hotels we've visited in Asia, it's clear that Movenpick Boracay falls considerably short of the established Movenpick standards.
The customer service is outstanding! Once we arrived, they greeted us with warmth and smiles. The rooms are incredible. Mar and Joy of HK made our room so special (See pictures below) and they made sure that my son will really enjoy our stay. The beach is just a minute walk from our room and exclusive only for Mövenpick guests. The place is cozy and relaxing. The food is exceptional! The hot tsokolate is a must try! Overall, Mövenpick made our Wedding Anniversary extra special.
Good thing about the resort is you have Myje as part of your service staff. He is truly very accommodating and helpful. Excellent customer service. Hi Myje, thank you for your excellent service and assistance. Looking forward seeing you in our next vacation.
We enjoyed our stay, aside from the beach and the pool, the amenities, the rooms were just superb! To top it all the ambiance was at its finest. The perfect place for family bonding! The restaurants did not disappoint. Would like to highlight your server Myje for his effective and efficient service. He was attentive to our needs and suggested dishes to order and they were indeed sumptuous! He also exceeded our expectation, providing our needs before we can say it i.e. water, refill of water, and checking on us from time to time if all are ok to name a few. Overall, we look forward to coming back!
