We had booked this hotel as it was directly opposite Southern Cross Station where we were getting off an interstate train. Very convenient. As we were only staying overnight, we opted for a cheaper room, which while small, was basic and all we needed. Comfortable bed and the usual tea making facilities etc, but no wardrobe - clothes are just hung from a rack - basic but utile. Surprisingly quiet. We would find it claustrophobic if staying very long.

You can’t beat the location of the Movenpick Hotel, the train and trams are right on your doorstep. You are walking distance to the city centre, casino and Marvel stadium, as well as a number of bars and restaurants. The hotel is nice and new and well designed with the lobby area flowing into a coffee shop, bar area and restaurant. Well equipped with a gym and in-door pool. The rooms are beautifully decorated, however on the compact side. Comfortable beds, with quality pillows and bed linens. The room was well lit and well equipped with a room safe, expresso coffee machine and a funky sofa to relax on. The bathroom was very clean and well lit, with a choice of two shower heads, clean fluffy towels and a good wattage hair dryer. Loved the chocolate hour in the afternoons, the little treats were delightful and a nice way to break the afternoon. If you don’t have breakfast included in your room rate, I would probably give it a miss, as it was the only slight disappointment about the hotel. The breakfast area gets very busy, the coffee machine is very fiddley to use, the choices were very Asian influenced and I dislike how all the guests were gouging the communal butter container to butter their toast, which was visually unsightly to look at and use. All the staff we encountered were very efficient, polite and provided exceptional customer service. Loved everything about this hotel.

I always stay at this hotel when I visit Melbourne, staff are always friendly and welcoming when you arrive. One staff member has remembered my name and when I check out she already has my room details ready for check out. Pete is one of the staff members I have check me in on several occasions and is always happy to change my room to a higher floor but I am happy with any room.as the rooms are always spotless whether you are arriving or returning after a day exploring Melbourne. The hotel is in the perfect location for exploring Melbourne and beyond as its close by the major transport hub for buses, trains and trams.

Very nice modern hotel directly opposite Southern Cross Station with tram stops everywhere. Restaurants & shops are all close by. Modern fresh decor throughout. Room not large being a CBD hotel but still ample space. Comfortable king size bed. Large TV with streaming apps available. There is no wardrobe but a rack with hangers. Bathroom a good size with a big walk in shower. Plenty of water pressure & good amenities. There is a lovely pool on the second floor as well as a gym. There is a tasty breakfast with hot & cold dishes. However it can get busy and a bit squashy particularly if a big group is there. Staff were friendly & helpful. I would be happy to stay here again.
