The museum, opened in September 2000, is Germany's first Picasso museum. With around 800 lithographs, it houses a unified collection which is unique in the world, and which was further supplemented by graphic collections of Picasso's artist colleagues like Henri Matisse, Georges Braque and Marc Chagall.
In addition to the permanent exhibition, special exhibitions give insight into Pablo Picasso's pictorial world. Guided tours, slide lectures on particular topics and a variety of other events offer further opportunities.
