Culture in Münster

Muenster offers many cultural sightseeing opportunities for an exciting stay.

Boulevard Theatre

The Boulevard Theatre is a privately managed theatre located in Münster's city-centre. Inspired by the Teatro la Fenice in Venice, designer Dieter Sieger created the noble but charming atmosphere. The theatre is renowned for its repertoire of comedic plays, although this doesn't mean though that only comedy-lovers will leave happy. Certainly, the opposite can be true. Watch one of the entertaining shows and let the flair of the theatre convince you.

The triple-winged estate (built between 1753 and 1757) is a masterpiece of architecture from the Baroque period. After being almost completely destroyed in World War II, it has been elaborately rebuilt. Today, the Erbdrostenhof's most important and valuable attraction is the beautiful ballroom in the centre of the building. It can be rented for concerts and numerous other events.

Peace Hall

The Peace Hall in Münster's gothic town hall owes its name to the peace treaty between Spain and the Netherlands, which was concluded here under solemn oath on 15 May 1648.

The hall originally served as a council chamber and its fine renaissance wood panelling dates from around 1577. The gallery of portraits, with its pictures of ambassadors, was purchased by the council in 1649. The furnishings of Peace Hall, which were put in storage during the Second World War, have been faithfully restored.
