The hotel is located within the short walking distance from the infamous Hanoi Hilton prison. It is a huge modern building with a relatively small driveway. The reception area is equally cavernous with few seats available. The check in was swift and efficient. There are only two lifts in the hotel but they were very swift. There is a pool at the hotel, which looked rather presentable, although we hadn’t any time for it being busy exploring this magnificent city or going on trips. The hotel was running a free Chocolate Hour tastings in the early evenings (next to Lounge 83), with a generous varieties of chocolate, which was a lovely touch. As we were using the hotel as a base for various trips across north Vietnam we stayed at different rooms of similar class. Rooms were all bright and airy, full of mod coms with very comfortable beds and plenty of seating and wardrobe space. All offered great views over the city. Coffee-maker and a kettle were provided. Fresh milk was available upon request. Bathroom was of standard size, with a bath tub and walk-in shower. Good water pressure. For some reason, there was a glass wall, with blinds, facing the bedroom. There were bathrobes and good quality slippers provided. WiFi signal was good. TV offered a rage of English-speaking channels. We dined at the excellent O Macanese restaurant, on the ground floor, that served delicious blend of Portuguese and Cantonese cuisines as well as at the Mangosteen, located in the breakfast room. The food and service were outstanding in both. Breakfast was excellent, with a large variety and excellent quality of dishes. The staff were well trained, they remembered our preferences and were only happy to assist, with a smile. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay at Mövenpick and would find it very hard to find any faults with it. Highly recommended.
Stayed here for 2 nights at the start of Vietnam tour. The hotel was outstanding, situated on the centre of all the hustle and bustle of the city and walking distance to the lakes. Rooms are spacious, exceptionally clean and beds super comfortable. Breakfast was amazing so much choice from traditional Vietnamese food to egg station, continental buffet and so much more. There is a lovely swimming pool and 2 bars. During happy hour 5-6pm drinks were half price and a small sweet buffet is available. All the staff were friendly and very helpful. Highly recommend the Mövenpick.
I generally write “good but please fix A, B and C” reviews. This one, however, is glowing. My taxi pulled into the Movenpick to drop me at a restaurant and the doorman greeted me politely. “We have Chinese and French”. Didn’t sound right. The restaurant I was looking for clearly wasn’t in the hotel. The doorman kept trying to work with my Vietnamese pronunciation of the restaurant name and helped me login to the hotel wifi so that I could call the dinner organizer. “Please sir, come inside to make your call”. He knew by that stage that I wasn’t a guest or headed for a hotel restaurant but he was charming, cheerful and extremely helpful. If the rest of the staff is half as attentive as the doorman I would sincerely endorse the Movenpick. Good location too. Right across the street from where the taxi should have delivered me.
We had a wonderful stay at the Mövenpick Hotel Hanoi and the customer experience was wonderful from end-to-end. Upon reaching the hotel we were warmly greeted by the reception team who had some welcome drinks and seamlessly checked us in. we enjoyed the view and our drinks from the Infinity bar. The reception staff looked after us well during our stay with exchanging currency for us. We would particularly like to recognise the concierge Huyen Tran who was truly remarkable with her customer service to us during our stay. She provided us with a wealth of information, guidance and handy tips for our stay in Hanoi. She gave us the timetable for Train Street and the recommended bar/restaurant to get a great view, recommended a number of shops where I could find a particular t-shirt that I was after, helped us with multiple currency exchanges, found my wife’s lost sunglasses that she had left in the ground floor bar and had then returned to our room on top of the mini bar, retrieved my wife’s scarf that she left at the poolside bar and had it waiting for her to collect. She even had bandaids for me to patch up my wound when I had cut my hand. Huyen, thank you so much. You were truly a delight to talk with and are truly an asset to the Accor group. Facilities wise, there was a lovely pool with the really cool Cabana Club bar next to it on level 4. Mangosteen restaurant put out a great breakfast buffet every morning with plenty of local, international and traditional breakfast options in a fine dining setting. Lounge 83 on the ground floor had really comfortable couches and a classy intimate setting playing soothing music in the background. Every day at 5pm they had Chocolate Hour where they put out a chocolate fountain and plenty of sweet treats all for free for hotel guests. The Classic King Room that we stayed in was very clean, well appointed with great amenities. The two most important things about the room were well addressed. First, the bed was so comfortable that we had a good night’s sleep and felt well rested. It was like sleeping on a cloud. Second, the shower had excellent water pressure, regardless of whether you used the traditional shower head or the rain shower (which was my preferred option), was instantly hot and was quite spacious. Feeling clean and feeling well rested are two of the most important aspects in my opinion. Location-wise, the hotel is very conveniently located a few minutes walk from the Old Quarter, about 10 minutes walk from Train Street, 10 minutes from Lake Hoan Kiem, and only 200 metres away from one of the best restaurants in Hanoi which is Quan An Ngon. Every staff member that we interacted with at the hotel was friendly, helpful and a joy to be around. We really enjoyed our time at the Movenpick and look forward to returning there in the future. Thank you to the Movenpick team (and in particular Huyen) for a wonderful experience.
I came for a 4 day business trip and was very pleased to have chosen the Movenpick. The location is great and there are several excellent restaurants in walking distance Service is very efficient and friendly. Breakfast was great with a wide choice of Western and Asian food. I had one evening meal in the coffee shop which was fine. Rooms are comfortable, agreeable and well equipped. The gym is a bit small, but fine. There is a sauna which I didn’t use I paid about $140 US a night including breakfast on a prepaid rate with Accor membership which I think is good value I am a frequent traveller and usually find something to complain about in a hotel. I really can’t say anything negative in this case😊
