Environmental Policy 2026
Scope and Commitment
We will reduce the environmental impact of Mövenpick Hotel & Apartments Ghala Muscat by implementing our Sustainability Management Plan 2026. This policy covers hotel controlled operations, as well as suppliers and contractors working for the hotel.
We will comply with applicable Omani environmental requirements and permit conditions, prevent pollution, and improve our environmental performance by reviewing results and taking appropriate action based on our findings.
Energy and Water
Engineering is responsible for monitoring utility use, maintaining equipment, and addressing leaks and avoidable consumption. Housekeeping is responsible for landscaping and irrigation.
All departments must use energy and water efficiently without compromising hygiene, safety, or guest needs. Utility performance will be compared using consistent periods and meter coverage, while taking hotel activity into account.
Proposed renewable energy and energy or water efficiency projects will be assessed before investment or related public claims are made.
Waste and Pollution Prevention
Food and Beverage will reduce food waste through appropriate purchasing, storage, preparation, and service controls, supported by food waste measurements and guest cover data.
Waste reporting will clearly identify whether operating waste totals include food waste, to avoid double counting. Departments must sort relevant waste streams, minimise unnecessary disposable products, and arrange appropriate collection.
Where required, contractor records will be maintained to demonstrate how waste is handled and its final destination.
Chemicals, refrigerants, oils, and wastewater will be managed responsibly to prevent leaks, spills, and improper discharge. Environmental incidents will be reported and followed up appropriately.
Purchasing and the Local Environment
Finance and Purchasing will follow the approved procurement policy, favouring suitable local, responsibly sourced, and environmentally preferable goods and services.
Departments will consider packaging, durability, energy use, and water use when specifying purchases.
Landscaping and hotel activities will be managed to avoid harm to local habitats and wildlife. Wildlife will not be fed.
Noise, lighting, pesticide use, and contractor activities will be controlled where they may affect people or the environment.
