Great resort on the Dead Sea

We booked at stayed in a sea view room. Pros: A huge and stunning resort on the Dead Sea with several pools, including winter pools with heating, jacuzzis, and access to the Dead Sea including mud bath facilities. Buildings had a beautiful aesthetic of traditional middle eastern stone. There are also tennis courts, a gym and spa onsite. We did not use these during our short stay. The resort is massive and so there are golf carts available to take you around. This was particularly helpful to get down to and up from the Dead Sea as the resort is built up way above th Sea level. Dead Sea experience was very good, there were plenty of hotel staff, included life guards to assist all guests and mix mud, adding to the overall experience. In the evening, there was entertainment including belly dancer and traditional singers. As a Movenpick tradition - there is a chocolate hour which served various chocolates - a lovely touch. Bars served alcohol and 2 bars had a happy hour with selected drinks - 50% off. Room was a good size with several toiletries, fridge and a very comfortable large bed. Balcony had a great view for the sunset. Mini bar soft drinks were included within the price. The breakfast and dinner buffet options were extensive. It was my birthday during our trip, staff organised a cake post dinner in the room which was a lovely touch. Cons: Overall, the rooms are dated and are in need of a renovation. In particular, the bathroom was worn and sealant etc was not clean. The dinner / breakfast buffet restaurant does not flow well, as the food and seating area is separated. Felt more like a canteen rather than 5* resort buffet. Service to replenish items in buffet felt slow, waited and asked several staff for carrot juice (which was finished). More attentive staff is required.

A beautiful oasis

I wish we had more time here or were closer so that we could visit again soon. The property is lovely with winding, shady pathways, fountains, stonework, multiple pools, a beautiful spa, and of course the direct access to the Dead Sea staffed with lifeguards that will assist you with everything from a mud scrub to getting and out to taking photos. This would be the perfect spot to stay for a week and just be.

Seedy, grimey, dirty, unsafe - good spa

Absolutely not. This place is terrible! Dead Sea access, the reason one is there to begin with: terrible! It’s dirty, with actual garbage all along the shore. It smells of sewage. I was traveling as a solo female traveler, there was a large group of men that decided that despite there being a whole sea, they had to be where I was, and the lifeguards helped direct one of them swimming backwards to me, despite me repeatedly trying to swim away! They did not realize I actually understood a fair bit of Arabic. I literally ran away from the Dead Sea. Touted as a 5 Star, this is easily one of the worst hotels I have stayed at. The rooms are dingy and old, with broken screens, and stained bedsheets. Oh, and they have REMOVED the chain to lock the door, and DISABLED the deadbolt, so you cannot double lock the door from the inside to prevent unauthorized entry. The bathroom hasn’t been cleaned for what seems like years, empty shower gel, and lotion containers; things you kind of need after being in the saltiest sea on earth. and the outdoor verandah looks like a drug den. Pics attached, don’t just take my word for it! Lastly, I clearly requested a non smoking room, I was plonked in a smoking one. The only thing I would recommend is the spa, it was great, and my masseuse Aisa was fantastic
