Reviewed: Movenpick Amsterdam (visited 4 nights: 1st Sep-5th Sep 2024) Negatives: Early check-in was not available. So had to wait till 3pm. On my previously visits they were able to accommodate this request. Coach/bus run between the hotel & Centraal Station has been stopped. Previously they had this service available every 30mins for guests. Upon arrival to the hotel for Check-In, girl on reception was very rude. If you don't have a credit card then they deduct a holding fee from your debit card of €50 per night upon your check-in. This is refunded at the end of your stay but takes 3-4 days to be refunded back into your bank account. There's also a €20 Euro 'City Tax' fee payable (per day) which is deducted from your deposit which I wasn't aware off, nor was I told about this when I booked with LoveHolidays! The Room was a bit 'dusty'. It could have been cleaner considering how much In paid to stay here. There were 2no. single beds in the room (even though I had emailed them in advance to tell them that I had booked a room with double-bed for me and my wife!). There was standing water in the shower when used due to it being slow to drain. It was ok during my previous visits. Overall extremely disappointed!! Especially considering that I had Paid €200+ Euros per night to stay here. This was my 'go-to' hotel in Amsterdam for many years (5 visits including this one). But unfortunately this is probably going to be my last visit. Sorry Movenpick but your Standards have gone down by quite a few points! If I'm going to spend my hard-earned cash on a holiday - I would expect you to at least get the basics correct, as it's YOU who is providing a service to the paying customers 👎🏾😔 Positives: The only saving grace of our visit was the exceptional treatment received from the restaurant staff during breakfast - they were extremely happy to help! 👍🏽😊
Really enjoyed my trip to Amsterdam . Sofilorena in Reception offered a warm welcome and suggested an option for upgrade which I hesitated to accept prior to arrival. However because of her explanation of benefits ( complimentary breakfast, minibar and drinks in the lounge) I accepted the offer of Junior suite. She really went out of her way to ensure I enjoy my stay in Amsterdam , gave me a few tips and checked in that the suite was enjoyable . I had issues booking my ticket for Van Gogh on my phone and she booked it for me - what a lovely , genuine soul . I hope you do well in hospitality business. Suite was very clean and spacious with all facilities ( WiFi internet, safe deposit box, aircon , bathrobes and slippers , bathtub and shower ) . PS the only thing I may suggest improving is ambiance of the Executive lounge on 2nd floor - a nice background music , a few more canapés would have been a nice touch . It felt like being in s care home . Otherwise I was very impressed with overall experience. Thank you for making my trip to Amsterdam so memorable
Hotel is conveniently located but could have used a little cleaning. Reservations were made by the cruise company I used so I had no control over that. The bar staff was friendly and snack was very good. Did not use the restaurant. Beds were comfortable; bathroom okay.
Luxury hotel next door to Amsterdam cruise terminal and within waking distance of Amsterdam Central Station (but a bit long if carrying suitcases and other bags). Rooms nice a quiet. Comfortable beds and pillows. Clean room. Kettle and coffee making facilities in room. A small bar fridge for use. Attached bathroom spacious with under tile heating. Seperate toilet attached to bathroom. Spacious shower area.
This hotel was a good location for us a short twenty minute walk along the water from central station and mostly flat The arrival was not the best guy was being trained by what seemed to be a very rude lady manager who was not at all friendly The restaurant staff however were polite helpful and friendly breakfast was fresh and plentiful and the steak we had in the evening was cooked to perfection Overall we had a great stay and would return if we ever visit Amsterdam again
