We had a disappointing stay at the Movenpick Amsterdam this Easter. We booked connecting rooms to accommodate our family and the receptionist who I arranged the booking with was extremely helpful. But the kids room wasn’t cleaned for the first 2 days of our stay until I mentioned it to the concierge. I can appreciate that the way we’d set up the king (which was supposed to be twin beds) for the kids to sleep in meant housekeeping couldn’t make the bed properly but the bathroom had also been left untouched. The empty glasses/ mugs weren’t cleared out of our own room and we found an old hairbrush and someone’s old pants under the bed! The staff were all very friendly but I was twice told in the bar that they couldn’t give me tap water until I said it was for the kids which I also felt was unreasonable as a hotel guest. Particularly as there was a sign in the bathroom encouraging us to drink the tap water! We also ate breakfast at a dirty table as I couldn’t get the attention of anyone to clear the table for us. When I raised these complaints on check out I didn’t get much response. These are not huge issues and we had an adequate stay but it felt pretty basic for the price of the stay and the cleanliness of the room was definitely an issue.
Stayed at Movenpick overnight while waiting for a cruise ship the following day. The location is right at the dock, so very convenient. Unfortunately our dock location changed and we did not board near Movenpick. I arrived with a tour group of 50+ people and the staff handled all of us very well. It was late morning and our rooms were not ready yet but we were able to leave our luggage and venture out. My room was large, clean and had a great view. It contained everything I needed. Was glad to have coffee available in the room too. Enjoyed the breakfast buffet the following morning. It contained everything you need. Can't really comment on the price of the room since it was included with my trip. I rely on reviews when I go places so I hope this is helpful. Most definitely recommend.
A well placed hotel which was clean and modern. The staff were extremely helpful and the breakfast choice was the most varied I've ever seen. The breakfast room is large with window views but always busy so allow time. Free toiletries, in the bedrooms, are carefully chosen for their eco credentials.
Room for 2 is great. Near to hbf and ferry connection. View of the river from the room is fanstastic. Upgraded due to accor member and ordered room service - food/snacks is fantastic. Only issue is that room service didnt capture the deposit paid at front desk and asked for payment till i showed the deposit payment. Most hotel accepts direct charging to the room even without deposit since i hv signed the check - kind of disturbed us that we hv to pay by card/cash on the spot (these are the things I wont want to trouble guests for). To begin with, it was quite frustrating that we hv to pay €50 for deposit when we check in esp when we had prepaid our stay months before (including any form of city taxes if any) - front desk seems to be untrained for this and tried to ask for payment again which is annoying. Whilst a more experienced front desk lady came over to explain and help, i cant help but feel like i might hv overpaid twice on a few things if i hadnt stood my ground. Overall a good stay (only because we were upgraded otherwise I would hv been very upset about the whole experience) but processes need to be reviewed to improve guest experience (Note: i did not want to leave my credit card for a block because many hotels did not know the right way of doing so and charged my card then reverse it causing me to suffer the currency exchange loss)
A great hotel 15 minutes walk from the city centre. The staff was respectful, polite. We are very satisfied . Location is very good.walking distance is small.tram passes in front of it if you want, but you can't pay for one stop😄I saw the umbrella rental service here for the first time.I think I overlooked it in other hotels.we got wet while visiting the city one afternoon.we would have been happy if we had taken this and left ☹️iki the day was great.we had a full and wonderful day 💕
