We had a staycation in Hobart and chose the Movenpick as I am just short of gaining ALL Platinum status. The hotel recognised our Gold status well and we enjoyed a room upgrade and welcome drinks. The room itself was large and tasteful with a great bathroom including an actual bath. The bed was comfy and we enjoyed watching our own shows on the TV with Chromecast. The chocolate hour was great with loads of tasty sweet treats to try. Breakfast was served downstairs in Tesoro which was tasty. We had asked for a high floor room but were only on level 6 - a higher floor would have given a proper city view. Also the parking is annoying - valet is a hefty $35 per night and they do not have any arrangements with nearby parking lots. We booked our own space at the Village carpark for $20 but other hotels in Hobart have arrangements to make it cheaper (eg Travelodge $15 and Mantra $18). Movenpick need to do the same.
Fabulous Hotel. Very central location. Friendly and helpful staff. We were able to get an early check in after arriving on a cruise ship so could check in at 12.30. As an Accor Platinum member We got an upgrade to a slightly larger room which was wonderful. Bed was very comfortable and room was clean. The bathroom had a good selection of amenities and our upgraded room had a bath. Our included Breakfast was lovely although the design of the breakfast room was a bit awkward and slightly difficult to get around when room was crowded. Order of the menu for a good selection of delicious choices and then a good variety of sides offered in the Annex area, juice, tea and coffee, pastries and fruit etc. The Bar area was quite small and a bit hard for us with a large group but very reasonable drink prices. Restaurant and Bar service was also excellent. I would definitely consider staying here again.
Stayed for 5 nights in early October in a Superior King City View room - excellent bed, pillows, bathroom with good quality toiletries, towels, linen, etc.. The room was very comfortable and clean. Reception staff were friendly, professional and quickly responded to any requests I made. The daily housekeeping was discreet and efficient. Coming back to the room in the late afternoons/early evenings it was always spotless. We also stayed for one night on October 20th, after we returned our hire car mid morning and needed to stay overnight before flying back to Western Australian in the evening on October 21st. The hotel was happy to store our luggage in the morning, so that we could spend that day in Hobart before returning later in the afternoon to formally check in. When dropping off the luggage we were informed that we had been upgraded to a Deluxe Two Queen Bed Harbour View, an unexpected "treat" and the very helpful receptionist confirmed we had a late checkout for the next afternoon, to allow us to relax that final day, without having to again store our luggage before we caught the Skybus to the airport from the nearby stop in the late afternoon. When we returned later in the afternoon, not only were the keycards for our room available but our luggage was already in the room. So efficient. My husband used the treadmill daily in the small gym on the 2nd floor - always clean and tidy. We didn't dine in the hotel's Italian restaurant but we did use room service dining on 3 occasions, with the food and service being also excellent. The hotel's location is brilliant - central city, close to the harbour and other attractions, very close to transport and the tourist information centre, tourist bus stops, etc. All in all, one of the best hotels in which we have stayed over the past 3 decades of travelling both within Australia, Europe (including the Movenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre in which we staged 8 years ago), the US and Canada.
Despite missing the chocolate hour both times on our two night stay, we felt like we departed from a warm hug. The joyful welcome by Monica who kindly upgraded us, she greeted me by name the following day with just as much enthusiasm. Room was a good size and comfortable with a nice view over the city / river. I had heard the restaurant was great, but we were surprised how great, so we dined the two nights for dinner and a breakfast. Wait staff and host also provided outstanding service. We utilised the valet service @ $35 per night. We didn’t move the car until checkout but they were prompt and friendly. The front entrance of the hotel can get busy, so when there is no room park in Trafalgar Place behind the hotel and they will sort it out. A very well located hotel and I would recommend
Welcome at Movenpick, as usual wonderful, Monica at the desk bright with a sense of humour. Our room, fantastic, after apologies for it being on a lower floor (#4) we entered with trepidation to find a bright well fitted out large room that was a delight. Staff, as usual throughout the hotel were polite, helpful and fun to interact with. It was good to see familiar faces and be welcomed, thankyou Jay (restaurant) for always being there, and best wishes for he and his wife with their about to arrive daughter. But. We have always enjoyed Tesoro Restaurant some very enjoyable meals, well cooked and well presented, however, this time we were very disappointed. The Grilled broccoli was almost cold and very uninteresting with the Semolina orecchiette hardly having any taste, and again very cool to be served. The service was slow and the waiter almost uninterested. overall, very disappointing.
