It took me 45 minutes to check in. Staff completely incompetent and the checkin area was one big zoo. When it was finally my turn and the staff is checkin me in they stop half way to help another customer. No matter how the rest of the stay is, because of this experience I will never come back.
Overall a good hotel with lovely grounds. I recommend booking the ‘view’ rooms, I had a very peaceful outlook over a water feature and lots of trees, very relaxing and pretty. The bed was large and comfortable and the room had everything I needed (inc kettle, mini fridge, iron and board, etc). Nice powerful shower, with lots of hot water. Maybe I was lucky with the timing I arrived, but I found check-in didn’t take too long and I was in my room ahead of the usual check-in time, which was great. I had no issue with checkout, all done very speedily. The food was pretty good, fresh and plentiful. It can take a while to get your drinks order but the staff are all working really hard, so perhaps more are needed at busy times. I am gluten free and they catered well for that. The chocolate hour was fun! The spa was nice, nice hammam but my massage was a bit average for the price. Three pools to choose from and lots of comfortable loungers. The two of the pools are long enough to have a proper swim. The gym is well equipped and I could always use the equipment I wanted to. My only criticism of it is that it was VERY hot in there, there didn’t appear to be any a/c on. It was manageable first thing in the morning in March, but I’d imagine unusable later in the year, without a/c. The biggest frustration was the unacceptably poor and spotty wifi, in my room and communal areas it dropped out all the time and was often very slow. I’d expect better at a 5* hotel, you must do better Movenpick.
We stayed at this hotel for five nights, and while the property itself was nice and well-located, the service at reception was far from five-star. We were initially placed in a room facing a construction site. The noise woke us up at 7 AM. The balcony was tiny and the one seat was covered in bird droppings, it was completely unusable. While the room itself was clean and comfortable, we requested a room change the next morning. We first inquired about a new room at 8.30AM and were told to check back after breakfast. After breakfast, we were asked to return at lunchtime. At lunchtime, we were told to come back at 3 PM. At 3PM we were told to come back at 5PM. When 5 PM arrived, we were still left waiting, with no sign of progress. Each time we approached reception, it was as if our request was being heard for the first time—no follow-up, no action taken. It wasn’t until 6:15 PM that we were finally moved, after an entire day of being sent back and forth. At no point did the front desk staff apologise or show any urgency. Instead, they were dismissive and, at times, rude, even serving other guests who arrived after us, just to avoid addressing our request The one saving grace was the guest relations manager, Aboubakr El Badaoui, who was incredibly apologetic when we eventually spoke to him the next day. It’s unfortunate he wasn’t involved earlier because I am sure he would have resolved the situation far quicker. It simply felt like reception team didn’t care. That being said, there were a few highlights. Mohammed, who served mint tea, was warm and attentive, the breakfast was great, and the hotel’s pool areas were good. The attitude and professionalism of the front desk staff really needs addressing. As it stands, I wouldn’t return or recommend it.
Short break to Marrakech with a stay at the Movenpick. Not stayed with this chain before but was pleasantly surprised by the attentive service, with genuine smiles. Got to say the breakfast was most probably one of the best I've ever had, choice was extensive and quality excellent. The evening meal was very good quality and the lamb tagine was brilliant, very tender lamb. I was also very impressed with Aboubakr from customer relations, who assisted us throughout or stay, very professional and empathy. Well done. Highly recommend a stay here, the gardens are impeccable...
