good and not so good

Nice spacious rooms quality showers and facilities. Staff generally very helpful when approached. Food generally nice, lots of choice For the amount of staff employed though the place could be a little cleaner, not what you would expect for 5 star. The windows and edges around the shower and bathroom were grubby, similar state of lobby toilets. Apart from the gardens, there seemed to be a general lack of maintenance. There were about four people at the entrance of restaurant checking you in, and who most of the time stood around looking aimless, but no-one bothered explaining how the buffet meal or breakfast worked, where to get food drinks etc. A lot of people underemployed but that seems a thing in Egypt. The poor car valet and security men dotted around the site must have incredible high boredom threshold levels. A huge issue for us was that due presumably to new security measures, the whole compound was fenced off from surrounding roads with access only through the main gates. It meant that taxi drivers (uber) struggled to find the route into the hotel, which was only accessible from a single, one way road. Most drivers were forced to drive the wrong way up the one way road to get into the hotel. Compared to some of the manoeuvres on the nearby motorway not the worst experience, but still not safe. In fact a lot of the organised trips that could be ordered and offered a pickup from clients hotels, did not recognise the Movenpick hotel as a place where you could be picked up from. Not a thing presumably that the Hilton or other more upmarket five star hotels had to deal with. The vast pools were massively under used, particularly by women which possibly be for cultural sensitivity reasons.

Pick another one

Genuine review, British family, 6 nights, 2x rooms. The good: pleasant gardens, comfortable beds. The bad (plenty): given rooms next to construction and jackhammers. We were allocated connecting rooms as requested but the doors were blocked by heavy furniture! Cigarette butts in toilet, leaking bath, leaking cisterns, damaged curtains, empty toiletries (a ruse by the cleaner Darshem to ask for £). Paper thin walls; at 1.30am I was treated to the once-familiar rhythmic sound of thigh pounding naked buttock which ended all too soon with a feminine whimper of pleasure and a thoroughly undignified male coughing fit, but I digress. The “water park” was designed for small kids but now needs to be condemned. Unable to “charge the room” unless funds deposited in advance. No menus, forced to use QR code not helped by patchy signal. Staff not trusted with cash, so FX was via 2x machines, neither of which accepted a £10 note. Condescending and arrogant manager at reception. Breakfast was more 3* than 5*. Booming music till late on Friday and Saturday as wedding party prioritized over other guests. Pick another one.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE

This hotel/resort is an incredible overall experience. Absolutely amazing service at the outside patio and the Sheesha man, Reda, was phenomenal providing nonstop help. And our server, Ziad, was so helpful and kind that when we come back we want the same exact servers. Thank you for providing such an amazing experience.

Above average, not the best breakfast box for the early morning departure.

2 nights at this hotel to start our Egypt adventure. It was OK, but we much preferred the Concorde on our last night after we’d been to Abu Simbel and Cruise along the Nile. It’s a bit out of the way tbh, people with limited mobility (Mum) need to call the golf caddy (which is free) when you want to leave your room to go anywhere.
