Disappointment after Disappointment

As a Silver Accor member, decided to book this hotel to perform pilgrimage with 3 other adults 2 of whom are elderly and require assistance. Distance to the mosque and the star rating is what pushed me to book also the standard of the Movenpick I stayed at in Marrakech. After booking online I emailed the hotel to let them know our flight arrives late night so they don't assume we're a no show. Fast forward to check-in and the chap says he only has one twin room and one king room and that it's our fault for checking in late. I explained I can't share a bed with any of the people I am travelling with to which he said he can have a single bed of the same quality put into the room. As I reach the king room, the service guy follows me in with a stained, torn and smelly single bed I immediately asked him to leave with the bed. I get a phone call from our family to say their twin room smells of cigarette smoke so I walked down and indeed it stinks as if someone was just smoking in there. I call down to reception from their room and the chap on the phone says "what do you want me to do, do you want me to send somebody to spray the room?". I could go in to more detail surrounding the conversations but I think you get the point. Please do yourselves a favour and look elsewhere when wanting a decent hotel for your spiritual stay because this is not what you want at the start of your journey.

Definitely not a 5 star hotel

Definitely not a 5-star hotel Calling this a 5-star hotel is honestly shocking. I have no idea who certified it as such — at best, it’s a 3-star. The hotel itself is poor, management is worse, and the overall experience was extremely disappointing. Housekeeping was lazy and did only half the job. On top of that, they seemed to expect tips every time they cleaned the room, despite the poor standard of work. ❌ Bad points Rooms are very outdated Carpets are dirty Poor lighting — only lamps, making the room dark Very dusty No bathtub, only a shower Bathroom is outdated, small, and dark Facilities such as the TV, sink, and cooker were either not working or in very poor condition Shower head was mouldy Breakfast was awful — same food every day with very limited options (only ate there once during a 5-day stay) Lifts take a very long time and are confusing to use Room numbering/signage is unclear and poorly marked ✅ Good points Bed and pillows were comfortable (although the bed was only a small single) Nice views if your room faces the mosque Very close to the Haram Directly connected to the Clock Tower Mall Convenient access to food and shopping ❗ Final thoughts I would never stay at this hotel again. You’re far better off spending a bit more and staying at Swissôtel or Hilton — they are much better in every way.
