Don’t arrive in peak hour 5.30 pm the streets are frustratingly slow and the GPS took us to a side street back entrance to the hotel near the bins with a stream of cars exiting a car park and we had no idea where to go from there despite ringing the hotel with no one answering and I had to dial again. Managed to find the back door and entered the underwhelming foyer Tried to check in to our harbour view room only to be told our booking had been cancelled! Never happened to us before apparently a glitch in the Accor app we were told! Anyway I have to say the manager on reception was really lovely professional and looked after us with his calming manner. Two bottles of sparkling water and a seat helped to assure us whilst he tried to find us a room. We were allotted number 1501 for 2 nights and then a change of rooms for two nights. Room 1501 is toted to be a more expensive harbour view but I’d more call it a small obstructed harbour view with city views dominating. You can lie in bed and look at buildings but if you want to view the harbour you have to squeeze into a corner and sit on mismatched chairs. Luckily the kind manager gave us a good price charging only for city view rooms because I would have been disappointed if we’d paid full price for harbour view for what we got. Next thing to warn you is they have a valet system of parking your car and assure all your belongings will be brought to your room. We were asked when the gentleman brought our belongings “is everything there?” Hard to answer that suddenly after everything we had been through. I’d rather look in my car to ensure I had what I needed but we weren’t given that option Our toiletry bad had been left in the car and we had to ask twice with a lengthy wait to get it delivered to us. My wife felt the fellow delivering it was unimpressed. Next morning staff not answering the phone so we had to go to reception to ask for our can to be delivered to us and mind you we weren’t aware that an extra daily charge for this is incurred. So I hope this information helps the customers to be more informed but surely it should be standard information on the website?
We loved how central this hotel is. Staff are beautiful and helpful and the valet service is wonderful. Best pillows we have ever had in a hotel and the room was lovely and quiet. We had to leave a night early as my son was sick and fly home and they were very kind to assist us with this. James the manager is very professional to deal with. The hotel lost a star because we were so excited about chocolate hour and there were no gluten free options for me and one of my sons. But apart from that it’s a great hotel.
Booked 5 nights in 2 adjoining Delux Rooms, all fully prepaid through Expedia. On arrival they could not find our booking and the hotel was quite full. They then told us the booking had been cancelled despite us having our receipt and a confirmation email from the hotel, some issue with their in-house system. Offered us 3 coffee vouchers as compensation. After 2 hours they put us into 2 very inferior rooms on separate floors, one on a much lower floor and the other right next to the noisy lifts, with both bathrooms smelling like a sewer. We had booked both rooms with a bathtub and King bed. We ended up with 2 double beds in each, shower only, single basin, no bath or bathrobes. No bowls in the breakfast bar 3 mornings and the coffee machine kept on running out of milk. No tomatoes at breakfast for 2 days running, this from a room that doubles up as a supposedly upmarket Italian Restaurant at night!. Got back from a day out one evening and our room had not been serviced, despite the “please clean” light being on all day. Had large unauthorised amounts charged to my credit card every night, still waiting to get some of it back. Can sum this up in one word. Avoid!
A very below-average experience. The so-called “chocolate hour” was underwhelming, and the function room space was far too small to be practical. My room door also didn’t lock properly, which is a serious security concern. On top of that, there were no umbrellas available at reception. Considering Hobart’s temperamental weather, I’d expect such a basic amenity to be standard at any decent hotel. My other disappointment was the lack of Mövenpick ice cream. For a hotel carrying the Mövenpick name, not having the brand’s most iconic product available is unacceptable and well below brand standards. Overall, this was not the experience I expect, and I certainly won’t be returning to Hobart for this conference if it continues to be held at this hotel.
From the moment we arrived and valet parked the car at a reasonable nightly rate to the moment we left 3 days later with the car ready to go we could not and would not fault this great hotel. The staff are so friendly and efficient across the entire hotel… the rooms are classy and very comfortable and the whole experience is just great. Centrally located we walked to every key area without any hassle. The restaurant selections - pastas - pizzas - steaks and availability are amazing even if you arrive little late at night and the wines are perfect plus the breakfast is just so good ….. the chef tries some unique stuff too that really works - char grilled coz lettuce!!! Please don’t change your formual!!! The eggs benny with slipper lobster is incredible!!! Platinum member doing plus 60 nights in the Accor group for over 10 years this is in the top 3 around the world so that’s says it all…….well done to all and we can’t wait to come again!!!!! Thank you
