We were underwhelmed with this Hotel. Chosen for the $75 4pm checkout option (which somehow morphed into a $120 late checkout fee) as we had a late flight. All good booking and paying in advance until being advised by reception staff this is conditional (not mentioned on website)- 2 staff later it was confirmed (again) that the 4pm check out was not conditional for us - good - we had already paid for it! We chose the Deluxe King Harbour View room - small and basic but yes with a view of the Harbour and breakfast in the restaurant. When checking in there were 4 deep in the queue - complicated check ins - and a group of unmanaged children devouring the chocolate hour offerings in the foyer. The restaurant staff lack basic customer service skills especially the breakfast manager - "If you want proper barista coffee you have to pay extra" - so the $30 menu breakfast doesn't include barista coffee - message received. The Chefs have created a lovely menu and we chose to eat in the restaurant both evenings rather than go out in the cold but the atmosphere is not at all welcoming which is a shame as there is no other guest lounge area. This may be better for families but for a couple looking for a special few days we would not recommend and will not book here again when in Hobart but will return to the Crown Plaza up the road where for similar $'s it is a much more relaxing stay.
I had treated us to a suite stay using my platinum benefits. The Derwent suite had a lovely view but was not luxurious. All the bathroom windows were frosted fully blocking out the amazing harbour views. Not enough staff on duty so reception in evening had long queues. Breakfast was terrible with huge queues, slow service and no replenishment of buffet. Valet parking was so slow and very expensive. We had recommended friends stay here too and they were not happy. I was embarrassed and disappointed. Our last stay was great. Chocolate hour is good. We wouldn’t stay again. Why only valet parking? You need to arrange deals with local car parks for your guests.
Right in the heart of the shopping belt, Movenpick is a lovely hotel that boasts a restaurant serving up delicious food, comfortable room and friendly staff. They had chocolate hour which was a really nice additional touch to our stay. Rooms has a selection of pillows which was a plus for us. Had to pay for parking which we were not used to.
The room was perfect! Very clean and comfy with a shower to die for. The staff were friendly and helpful. Everything is close by as it is in the heart of Hobart with good restaurants and the tourist info just down the road for lots of sight seeing. Have used a movenpick before and would highly recomend anyone to stay in a movenpick. Its A++
We recently stayed for five nights and this hotel is one of the best. Very modern and clean and well located. We will definitely stay again if in Hobart and will recommend the Movenpick to anyone. We loved the bathrooms with the "rain" shower.
