The Temple of Literature is a pleasant retreat from the streets of Hanoi. Built in 1070 under the Ly dynasty, this place used to be the first university of Vietnam (Imperial Academy) for brilliant students whose major focus on discussing literature and composing poetry. There are 82 stelas representing the record of personal information for doctors who gained outstanding academic achievements. Van Mieu is also a typical example which boasts a long history of well-presented Vietnamese architecture.
