Not a 5 star resort by global standards - book with your eyes open!

This review is really aimed at Accor Hotels / Movenpick Group. If they are comfortable that this property represents their brand then I would first be very surprised, and secondly I would be very disappointed. I am writing this from the perspective of someone who has travelled a lot and stayed at 5 star resorts and premium hotel brands around the world. This resort is at best a low end 4 star and should not be advertising itself as a 5 star resort under the name of a global premium brand. Main issues as follows - 1) Staff - There are some notable exceptions, and for them I feel sorry because they are really trying to provide a good service (Zain who is the manager in the buffet restaurant for example. Ahmed who cleaned a lot of the rooms on our floor. There are others as well). However, a lot of the staff have very little idea about customer service. They seem to resent the guests, or at least serving them. They serve with the minimal care and effort. I even had examples of staff outright lying to me because they couldn't be bothered to make a little effort (for example saying they had run out of lemon slices for my drink, when 15 mins prior another bar tender had opened a fridge with lots of lemons in it. This one individual just couldn't be bother to slice a lemon for my drink). There were so many examples during our stay where we, and other guests around us received customer service which literally left us speechless and looking at each other to say "did that just happen?". In the end you just give up and laugh at what is happening. 2) Language - The staff's ability to communicate in English is generally very limited to non-existent. This makes it incredibly difficult to achieve anything. In the end due to language barriers you grudgingly accept a poor level of customer service. This shouldn't be the case for an international premium brand hotel. 3) Rooms - Whilst the quality of the outdoor landscaping, pool areas and cleanliness of the beach was a plus, the standard of the bedrooms is very poor. We paid a premium for the higher end rooms (suites facing the sea) and couldn't believe how limited the rooms were in terms of quality and features. 4) Drinks - We had the all inclusive package. The drinks menu advertises popular cocktails such as cuba libre and whiskey sour. Neither of these, for example, were made at anywhere near the standard one would expect from a 5 star resort. For example, the cuba libre was often just a random unmeasured quantity of rum with coke poured on top. No crushed ice, no twist of lime, no measuring the balance of spirit plus mixer. 5) Spa - The on-site spa, which we were told is run by an independent third party and nothing to do with the hotel, is shockingly poor. The quality of the treatments was laughably poor. The lady who runs the spa has a real attitude problem and again seemed to treat us, her paying customers, with contempt.

Perfect week at Mövenpick

This was our second stay at Mövenpick Waterpark Soma bay. 2 adults and 5x years old daughter. We stayed 13th -20th December 2025.(first stay was june 2025) I think that we came back explains everything. Hotel and amenities are perfect for family stay. Room was spacious and immaculate. Entertainment team did their best every day of our stay. Drinks and food is absolutely amazing. Again I would like to say big thanks for the hotel staff: reception, waiters at restaurants, kitchen staff, restaurant supervisors. You did amazing job!amazing! If i will have chance again to go for holiday i would come back for 3rd time as well, its a no brainer! Hotel staff very helpful and friendly. If you are reading my comments and reviews i would highly recommend. Thanks again for the fabulous stay. Zoli,Norma,Nova

Once was enough .

The 5 star hotel qualification is valid for the beautiful and large garden as soon as for the beach . Otherwise is the hotel rather 3 star one . Especially the catering . The foods are monotone and repetitive . The evening programs are missing .

Do NOT ever book this hotel.

Do NOT ever book this hotel. From the moment we arrived, everything was a disaster. We paid €1008 for one week in half-board, and since we missed dinner on the first night, the hotel offered us a “late dinner” , an absolute catastrophe and a disgrace to the hospitality industry. We were served two slices of bread, a bit of cheese, and two apples. A total shame for a so-called 5-star hotel. To make things worse, we weren’t even given our wristbands upon arrival, which led to confusion later when we were accused of using “all-inclusive” services we never had access to. The manager even claimed I had taken advantage of the all-inclusive offer while I was literally in Cairo at that time, clearly an attempt to scam me. The atmosphere in this hotel is toxic and dishonest. Their only goal seems to be tricking tourists. You can’t stay five minutes at the pool or the beach without being constantly harassed by people trying to sell you quad rides, diving sessions, spa treatments, and more. If guests want an activity, they’ll go to reception, no need for this endless harassment. Even worse, some staff members made sexist and inappropriate comments toward my girlfriend, which was completely unacceptable and made us feel unsafe. And the final insult: we were charged €12 per pool card that the housekeeper herself removed from our room while we were away. We only stayed two nights instead of 7 in this dreadful place, but that was more than enough. A complete disgrace to the ACCOR group. Don’t make the same mistake we did — this hotel doesn’t deserve its 5 stars. Shameful !
