I don’t know when this hotel was built, but the once upon a time luxury has faded. Multiple things need real maintenance and not a quick fix. We went outside of tourist season so we got a good price, but I would say it’s not worth it for full price. It is advertised as very luxurious and high end, but it does not keep its promises. The breakfast and dinners are good (8/10) and they are very quick when ordering in-room dining. But it is advertised as having theee different «restaurants» og lounges but all of these have the same menu. So it kinda feels like a hoax. Chocolate hour thing is a very cool concept I haven’t encountered anywhere else. The only thing I really miss is fruits. It’s basically just different cakes and cookies, watermelon and dragonfruit. Who has a chocolate fountain and doesn’t offer strawberries and bananas to dip in it? The swimming pool doesn’t have any deep areas which are kind of boring. But I imagine for families with children the pool area is heaven. They have these big blow-up toys, but you have to pay by the hour to use them. Which I think is unnecessary considering the price you pay to stay at the resort. It should be included. And the hotel staff also doesn’t make visitors follow the poolside rules. There were multiple times people brought loud speakers playing their own music on top of the hotels music. Very annoying. The beach is very nice but there is so much trash. Walking outside the hotels area it is flooded with trash. And inside the hotels area also has a considerable amount of trash that looks to come from the resort itself. Water bottles and beer cans and napkins etc. The standard of the rooms are also a 5/10. Its not super clean and it needs some real maintenance. Not just a spotted flick of paint. The terrace was not equipped with a broom and it got super dirty throughout our stay, and it didn’t get cleaned by the staff either. The outside furniture has also seen better days. The inside furniture was stained. The staff also have a habit of removing stuff from the room without replacing it. Like taking the robes and not give us new ones. So you have to call down to the reseption every time you need something. The minibar is aslo designed to stay at a temperature between 10-13 degrees. And the AC couldn’t keep the temperature below 22 degrees. We even asked for assistance in using it and the guy just went «that’s the best it can do» They do have a very good laundry service! It is expensive and you pay by the garments but it is very good! When staying here you are very far away from anything. You feels kinda stuck at this hotel. We found that Grab was the best taxi service. With the best price and experience. Summary: don’t go if you have to pay full price. Be prepared to be very far away from everything.
We stayed at the Mövenpick Waverly in a villa for five nights with family. Unfortunately, throughout our stay, we often felt like a burden to the hotel, and were surprised by the overall uncaring and unhelpful attitude in many interactions. Here are a few key points to note: - The hotel is very large, which results in an impersonal, mass-market experience. Breakfast, in particular, was chaotic, with long lines at the entrance and food/coffee stations. It made for a stressful start to the day. The same issue occurred during the much-advertised “chocolate hour,” with long queues and overcrowding. - While the hotel offers free yoga sessions, they are held in the garden near restaurant walkways, where guests were filmed and photographed by passersby—completely ruining any relaxing atmosphere. Even worse, the instructor took photos of participants during the session without asking for consent. After informing the hotel, they agreed to delete the images and moved the location slightly, but it left us uncomfortable and reluctant to return. - We were informed that one of the towels in our room was “dirty” and were charged a 150,000 VND cleaning fee. This made it hard to relax as guests, and afterward, we were hesitant to use the white towels at all for fear of additional charges. Coming back from the beach with sandy or dirty feet, we felt nervous about even minor stains. Again, it made us feel like a burden rather than welcomed guests. - On two evenings, red lights and beeping sounds came from an electrical cabinet in our villa. While the maintenance staff quickly stopped it by pressing a button, it left us questioning the villa’s overall safety and upkeep. - The kids’ club offers activities throughout the day, many of which are paid. When my 4-year-11-month-old daughter wanted to join a PAID activity, the staff member hesitated and told me that she already had three children in the class and I would need to assist my daughter because her attention would be focused on the others. While I understand staffing limitations, the way this was communicated felt dismissive. Again, it left us feeling like an inconvenience. - Finally, as Silver members, we requested a late checkout for our last day. We were told to check back on the day of departure, making it impossible to plan our schedule and creating unnecessary stress. The staff showed little concern for how this affected our experience. Overall, it feels like Mövenpick operates with the attitude that unhappy guests don’t matter because new guests will keep coming. Let’s see how this approach works in a competitive hotel market like Phu Quoc. Having lived in Vietnam for six years, we have stayed at the Intercontinental and the JW Marriott on Phu Quoc, where the service was leagues ahead. I’d recommend anyone visiting Phu Quoc to think carefully about where they spend their money—Mövenpick doesn’t seem to care anyway.
Mövenpick Phu Quoc Resort was an ideal destination for our family trip. The 2-bedroom villa with a private pool was spacious, spotless, and incredibly comfortable. Since we had young children and our outdoor activities were limited, the excellent resort facilities felt even more valuable. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring all our needs were met. Even without leaving the resort, we had a relaxing and fulfilling stay. It’s a luxurious and comfortable retreat that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway.
Stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. Good service and attentive staff. The hotel spa, Elements Spa has a wide range of massage treatments. Jacuzzi, steam room and suana are all very clean. Mr Sang, Ms Thao and Ms Phuong are all very courteous and professional in their respective roles.
Nice room Excellent services Love the Chocolate Tea time Enjoyed the beach and pool Convenient to other parts of the city
