A HIDDEN GEM

From arrival until departure 5 days later the hotel experience was first rate. The facilities, location and the staff especially were exceptional - obviously great leadership by GM Dan Smith! Will definitely return and recommend this low-profile property to all and sundry.

5 Stars

Our new favourite hotel in Bangkok and we are fussy. A true 5 Star hotel in one of the best areas, location, location is key in Bangkok and this hotel is in a very upmarket area. The rooms are spacious and light with all amenities. Breakfasts are amazing, healthy juice station, fresh fruits, lots of healthy options and caters for all tastes at breakfast. Staff were very helpful and Thor & Amran concierge very helpful. We loved the pool and the gym. We will be returning for another stay next week before our flight back to UK, it was that great. We loved it. Highly recommended.

Great Property

This hotel was Swissotel Nai Lert previously and had been renamed Movenpick and thankfully fully renovated as well. This hotel has a theme on wellness since it's annexed to a wellness clinic. Room: Nicely renovated and furnished. We had a Wellness Suite which was very comfortable. It came with living room and a powder room as well so it's quite convenient. All toilets are equipped with automatic toilet bowls which my family loved. Bed was comfortable, asked for a foam pillow and was obliged. They give out those glass bottles of filtered and ozonated water which I prefer to plastic bottles. Again, whatever quantity requested was obliged. There was a leakage at the bath tub and the bedroom couldn't cool down enough as to make it hot when sleeping. Those issues were attended and fixed promptly when made known. Breakfast: Room rate came with breakfast and again there's a wellness theme to it with a variety of salads and gluten-free sourdough bread and a made to order juice station. Apart from those, there are the usual breakfast stations like eggs, noodles/fried rice and waffle station. We were there for 4 nights and wished there's a bit more variety at breakfast though. Facilities: The temperature-controlled pool was a good respite from the heat and my child appreciated it very much but I believed they have resized the pool to a much smaller kidney-shaped pool as the rest of the land was repurposed for building of aparment next door which brings me to the next point. The hotel is surrounded by construction sites, if that bothers you, then you might want to consider other hotel choice. The noise was bearable especially when one's at the pool and certainly quiet inside the hotel and we certainly weren't bothered by any construction noise. The gym seems adequately equipped. Dining: There're I believe only 2 restaurants on site. One is the all day dining restaurant where breakfast is served (called Nourish) and the other one being a high end Thai restaurant Khum Hom. We didn't have the opportunity to try the Thai restaurant as it was closed on the first evening when we arrived, and the next evening was its grand opening with Bangkok's socialites coming in full force for their cocktail reception so we couldn't book it. They have a chocolate hour every afternoon where any guest can partake on the main lounge area. We had club lounge access which they had 2 presentations (afternoon and evening cocktail hour). We didn't partake in the afternoon tea presentation as we were out and about in Bangkok but I could see were some cakes. The evening presentation were hors d'oeuvres style which we partook on most evenings, the food was good and service good. Service: Generally the service is good but not excellent. We were made to wait for a hour for our room even though we arrived at around 4pm. Service was never anticipatory but I understand this hotel doesn't operate at that rarefied level. They can do with some improvements as I can see they're a bit short staffed (e.g. The pool is staffed by the same people who are manning the gym so sometimes the pool can go unattended for a while). Location: It's located at Witthayu road, off Sukhumvit and it's not next door to a BTS station like some hotels are but they will buggy you to the nearest one where you need to walk a small distance to take the BTS via Central Chit Lom. I chose this location as I didn't want the sleaziness of some Sukhumvit locations but still convenient enough. Despite it being surrounded by construction sites, it still manages to give the peaceful and relaxed vibes. I love the high ceiling at the breakfast place where plenty of morning light shines through the glass panel with pool view. While I am not gushing on this property but comparing it to the booking that I cancelled (at Grand Hyatt Erawan which I was a bit put off by its dated decor), I think I made the right choice.
