Reviews
Booked a Christmas trip for my entire company and from arrival they made mistakes . Lovely hotel appallingly run . They forgot to register my Amex correctly at reception then rudely embarrassed me at the bar saying I wasn’t allowed to charge to my room . Copious apologies later and more then yet more trouble Closed the bar before we returned from dinner having assured me when I made the booking it would remain open until the last customer left . When you fly 46 to Marrakesh for a treat the least one can expect is good service . To add insult to injury they said to use room service . I do question is this a full Accor hotel or a badly managed local franchise .
We stayed 2 nights as part of our Globus tour of Morocco. This is a huge hotel comprising 4 seperate wings. Why anyone would want to pay AUD700+ a night is quite beyond us. The hotel is in a good area. There is a film festival so all streets around hotel are being policed and barriers everywhere. Our room in building 1 was a problem. No aircon and when we asked for this to be fixed a guy came to the room had a Quick look at the controls, shrugged and left.then after waiting we decided to go down to reception and was told the whole building had aircon problems even though our friends were also in building 1 with no issues. So we asked to be moved and after some time they found us a room in building 2. It amazes us that a so called 5 star hotel can be so slack , this mess took a long time to sort out eating into our time in Marrakech. We would not stay here again as the price is a complete rip off for such poor service. This is our 260th hotel review so we have had plenty of experience and it does seem to,us that you get better service in say a 3 star hotel where your business is valued.
Top highlights of this hotel, first is the staff. Everyone, from room service, breakfast staff and even the team that maintain the entrance access - positive, helpful and offered advice or assistance as needed. Second is the location. It is approx a 40 minute casual walk to the Medina. A very easy route to walk into the souks and then then the option to taxi back. However, it is also easy to walk to other areas, Mall’s and restaurants that are a different category from the chaos of the old city. Third, is the Spa - outstanding. We had a hammam and probably one of the best massages anywhere in the world (book a slot early if you stay here as they get booked up days in advance). Fourth, the pools. Clean, well maintained and none of the “bagging loungers” nonsense - as there are more than enough to go around the three separate pools. Fifth - whilst we did not do an evening dinner at the hotel, the breakfast service was excellent. Self service buffet with fresh, well prepared produce and broad selection of cold, hot, pastries and the coffee was decent (which is important!) Lowlights to know in advance: a couple of areas need a tidy up. E.G: lack of plug and play USB/C facilities in the room and some of the room furniture could come up a notch. Plus, if you want to spend most of your time in the Medina - it’s the wrong location for you. Overall though, really good hotel. We had an enjoyable and exemplary stay. The staff were outstanding and a special thanks to the Spa reception and hammam / massage team (Fatiha, Bouchra, Nafi & Khaoula) - outstanding job and thank you.
This hotel is beautiful. The decor and setting feels luxurious and modern with a nod to Moroccan culture. There was plenty of choice for food and drink and different spaces from the more lively, heated pool by the pool bar, to a small, quiet, heated adult only pool near the spa. Our spa experience was excellent. Lovely ladies made us feel relaxed and welcome. Look out for Najia who will give you a free foot massage by the pool whilst ensuring you mention her name online. Here you go Najia! All staff seem genuinely friendly and welcoming, without a feel of “angling for tips”. They seem genuinely proud to provide a 5* service. Chocolate hour (every day) provides a display of top quality chocolates to help yourself to and Moroccan tea is constantly available. The food was fabulous and prices are reasonable, comparable with standard London restaurants. If you’re interested in yoga or Pilates, that’s on offer too plus a few boutique shops as part of the complex. We had a superior garden view room on floor 2. It was peaceful and comfortable. There is some road noise generally when you’re outside (the hotel is just off a main road). But it doesn’t really notice with the peace inside or the relaxing music piped into the adults only pool area. Our first trip to a new continent, we felt some trepidation, but everyone we met was so friendly and courteous. There are security and police everywhere in this area and it felt safe. We were looking for a luxury weekend retreat & we found it here. Recommended.
Whilst staying at Mövenpick Marrakech, we enjoyed a wonderful foot massage from Najia who works in the spa ô de rose by cinq monde. She is a fantastic masseuse and provided a very relaxing foot and leg massage when it was most needed! She’s absolutely very professional and works very diligently to make you feel relaxed.
